On Friday, October 30th, the streets of Umuahia came alive with purpose during the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, wrapping up with a commemorative ceremony at the Michael Okpara Auditorium.

Joining Her Excellency, the mother of our dear state, for the walk themed “Every Story Is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” we gathered to raise awareness and honour resilient survivors. To ensure action followed awareness, free breast screenings were provided on-site.

Medical professionals at the event highlighted that while breast cancer is a major global health challenge, early detection saves lives. Women were encouraged to prioritize a healthy lifestyle and stay alert to warning signs like new lumps, changes in shape, nipple discharge, or unusual warmth.

During her address, Her Excellency, Mrs. Priscilla C. Otti led a moment of silence to honour those lost to breast cancer and offered prayers of strength, recovery, and comfort for fighters, survivors, and affected families. She also expressed her deep gratitude to the Safe Tent Care Initiative team memebers, volunteers, and medical team for their unwavering dedication.

Hearing directly from survivors serves as a powerful reminder that while we may not prevent every diagnosis, regular self-examinations, clinical screenings, and early detection truly save lives. May their stories continue to encourage and inspire hope today and always.

On Tuesday, 27th October, I had the honor of attending the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child commemoration, organized by the Office of the First Lady in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs held at Britarch Event Centre, Opposite Abia State House of Assembly, Umuahia.

Representing my principal, Her Excellency @Priscillaotti, I reaffirmed this administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and future of every young girl in our state.

Speaking on this year’s theme, “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights,” with a focus on the dangers of human trafficking, I emphasized that our girls deserve the time to learn, grow, and mature into confident women capable of making informed choices about their lives.
Through the transformative initiatives of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, including free education, the TechRise Programme, and the Leadership Academy, alongside Her Excellency’s Safe Tent Care Initiative, Abia State is deliberately investing in creating boundless possibilities for our daughters.

I call on traditional rulers, religious leaders, parents, and community stakeholders to stand with us: report exploitation, reject child marriage, and help us build a state where every girl child is safe, empowered, and free to lead.

Happy International Day of the Girl Child to all our dear daughters. by @adaezechideraemetu

On Thursday, 22nd October, I joined the Mayor and Mayoress of Ohafia LGA to commemorate the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child.
This landmark event, organized by the Office of the Wife of the Governor in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and the Mayoress of Ohafia LGA, gladdened my heart as this message of hope reached every corner of our dear state.

The theme, “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights,” highlights the urgent obligation to protect and empower young girls, who are essential future leaders. Forcing girls into early marriage deprives them of their childhood, education, and health, while perpetuating cycles of poverty. Conversely, when we invest in a girl’s rights by providing her with quality education, healthcare, mentorship, and a safe environment, we secure the prosperity of generations to come.

During my speech, I pointed to a grave and rampant evil that threatens the safety and very existence of our children: human trafficking. This danger must be confronted head-on, as it leads our girls into modern-day slavery, forced labor, extreme abuse, and stolen futures.
I urged everyone to sound the alarm across our communities, churches, markets, and schools
Parents must be vigilant, community leaders must keep watch, and law enforcement must remain uncompromising in tracking down and punishing those who traffic in human lives.

To our dear daughters, the pride and future of Abia State, never forget that your dreams are valid, your voices matter, and your rights are non-negotiable. by @adaezechideraemetu

On Tuesday, October 10th, 2026, I attended the presentation of Learning Support Materials to Ibeku High Junior Grammar School as part of the MTN Foundation Learning Support Initiative.

This initiative, which involves the donation of 1,200 branded school bags, 1,200 exercise books, and 1,200 water bottles for junior secondary students, will go a long way toward easing their learning journey and boosting their morale.

Representing my principal, Her Excellency, @priscillaotti, I distributed these learning materials to the students and expressed her profound appreciation to the MTN Foundation for extending their Learning Support Materials Initiative to Abia State.

I encouraged the learners to make these materials count by attending classes, reading beyond their textbooks, and asking questions for clarity.
To the teachers, thank you for your unwavering dedication. To the MTN Foundation, thank you once again for standing with our children and supporting the educational aspirations of Abia State.
I hereby invite more foundations, corporate organizations, philanthropists, and well-meaning individuals to partner with us in providing our children with greater access to the opportunities they need to succeed. by @adaezechideraemetu

On Friday, October 9th, I had the honour of joining my principal as she flagged off the 2nd edition of her annual back-to-school programme at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.

This programme themed: Raising the Standards, Rewarding Excellence, provided 1,000 pupils, drawn from 50 public primary schools across the state, mostly from rural communities, with essential school supplies for the new academic session.

In her address, Her Excellency, Mrs. Priscilla C. Otti, highlighted that the initiative aims to reward academic excellence, relieve financial pressure on parents, and foster healthy competition among public school pupils. Additionally, she commended Abia’s outstanding public school students for bringing state and national honour by emerging victorious at the 2026 International Schools Debate Championship held in Doha, Qatar.

Her Excellency encouraged the pupils to stay studious, disciplined, and ambitious in their pursuits. She also expressed her gratitude to teachers and parents for their steadfast commitment to nurturing the children.

Finally, she appreciated the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) under the leadership of its Chairman, Mrs. Ezihe Lydia Onuoha, for its strategic partnership with the Safe Tent Care Initiative (STCI) to ensure the success of the program. by @adaezechideraemetu
