Meet the Artists: Adelf Uti Adelf is a queer Nigerian, grief alchemist, visual artist, and Postpartum doula who creates at the threshold between what is seen and what is felt. Her practice is a form of a living altar work; a soul language spoken through pigment, ritual, sound, and the unspoken poetry of storytelling. This work is done using oil pastels, collage, graphic art, and installation-based altars built within community. My heart is so full!! 🥹 Grateful to everyone that pulled up to support!! Life Update Deep gratitude to everyone who donated 🥹 I was able to cover rent and bills for the month of May. Still have a ways to go, but taking it one day at a time. Reciprocity is a deep value of mine, so I’m working with a few homies to put together a raffle + rent party at the end of the month. It’s been months since The Soul Journey came to life. I’ve been quiet — not because the moment passed, but because the work has continued to move through me. This offering was never just an event. It’s a living body. My first body of work. The magic that moved through that space has taken time to digest. To ground. To name. Some stories aren’t meant to be rushed. Some medicine needs silence before it can speak again. I’ve spent this time breathing with it… letting the stories, memories, and medicine settle into my bones. Letting it shape me before I try to shape it back into words. This post is a soft opening — a way of sharing what’s been unfolding in the quiet. Photo journal entry 001: The lens used to capture these photos — the Helios 44-M4 — was forged in the shadow of World W@r II, a time when the world teetered between chaos and resilience. Shooting with it now is like entering into dialogue with the past, each frame a quiet testament to lives interrupted and moments reclaimed. There’s an undeniable irony in its legacy: a relic of a fractured time capturing serene, fleeting instants in a world that mirrors the tensions of its origins. The invitation to shift course—to awaken, to choose differently—has always been there. More people are beginning to see, to question, to move with intention. But awareness alone isn’t enough. We have to commit to building the new world.
