Polar bear doodle because yesterday was National Bear Day! Did you know that there’s only 8 species of bears on the planet? I didn’t, I thought there would be more bears. Unfortunately, 6 out of the 8 are classified as vulnerable or endangered. Currently, there are about 26,000 polar bears worldwide and considered vulnerable due to habitat loss, climate change, and other threats. 60% of polar bears live in Canada, while the remaining can be found in the U.S. (Alaska), Russia, Greenland, and Norway (Svalbard). Here are some other exciting facts about polar bears: 1. Polar bears have two layers of fur that prevent nearly all heat loss. This, along with their thick fat, helps them survive -50°F (-46°C) Arctic winters. 2. Their fur is actually pigment-free and transparent, not white! 3. They are the largest bear species and the largest land carnivores in the world. Male polar bears can weigh up to 1760 lbs (800kg)—as much as 10 men! #polarbears by @adriruno

2022 felt like a year of healing after two tumultuous years. Didn’t really draw a lot, but I’m hoping to change that and work on projects again for 2023. Wishing for a happier and healthier year (for like, the entire world lol) by @adriruno
