Adroit (adjective)

/uh-droit/
In basketball, adroit describes a player who is skillful, clever, and highly capable in handling the game—whether it’s with their hands, feet, or decision-making. It speaks to dexterity, proficiency, and mental sharpness on the court. When all these components—skill, control, IQ, and repetition—are executed consistently at a high level, you don’t just play the game...

You become Adroit BUCKET.

In bold on 👕; “A BUCKET”

Kill Dribble Series with Jay 🏀

Deceleration. Footwork. Change of pace.

Control your speed, manipulate space, and create scoring opportunities.

It’s not always about speed. It’s knowing when to slow down and attack.

Skill. IQ. Game.

Downhill attacks out of the Pick & Roll. 🐍🏀

Working through tight spaces using the snake dribble and rejecting the screen to create better scoring angles.

It’s not always about being faster. Sometimes it’s about understanding angles, controlling your pace, and knowing how to navigate traffic.

🏀 Player development starts with movement!

Spatial awareness. Body coordination. Balance. Footwork. 🧠👣

Building the foundation through play while creating memories that matter.

No hoop required. Just movement, connection, and growth. 🌱

Welcome to Adroit Basketball Deaf. 🏀🤟🏾

This is bigger than basketball training.

I created this platform to help build more access, representation, and opportunity for Hard of Hearing / Deaf athletes in the game of basketball.

My journey has taken me from Gallaudet University and Team USA Deaf Basketball, to becoming a Deaflympics gold medalist, to player development and working with NBA & WNBA players in professional training environments.

Now it’s about opening doors for the next generation.

Here, we’ll focus on:

🏀 Player Development
🧠 Basketball IQ
🤟🏾 Hard of Hearing / Deaf representation
👐🏾 ASL & accessible communication
📈 Opportunities at every level of the game

Being Hard of Hearing / Deaf isn’t a limitation on how far you can go in this game.

Normalize Hard of Hearing. Normalize Deaf. We’ve been here.

Same Game. More Access.

Welcome to Adroit Basketball Deaf. 🤟🏾🏀

Happy Deaf Awareness Month from ADROIT. 🏀

Basketball is more than a game. It’s a language. A community. A place where everybody deserves the opportunity to be seen, valued, and included.

This month, we celebrate the Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, CODA, and ASL communities -their culture, their stories, and their impact on and off the court.

Different, not less. Stronger together.

At ADROIT, inclusion isn’t just something we talk about. It’s part of who we are.
