It’s about that time… 😎 by @afhoogz

This is who the f*ck I am.

There are no words to describe this feeling. I wish I could bottle it up and take a dose when I need it, or share it with anyone who has never known that kind of pure self love. 364 days ago was my last competition and I put a 500lb deadlift in my sights for Raw Nationals. And here it was. Piecing together training sessions (literally over 100 gyms), traveling all over the world, effectively living out of my car or a suitcase. A lot of unknowns. Went up a weight class just to make sure I left nothing on the table (and still weighed in ~77kg 🤦🏼‍♀️).

For one day, I got to just be about me, right where my feet were, and express the rawest form of strength. As always, lessons in powerlifting are also lessons in life. You are successful or you learn something. This day was both. You can do anything and then some.

Thank you to @major_butt for being the best meet day dad and Memphis host. Thank you to @doc_willy_ for being my handler, making that last minute decision to change from 490 to 500 and giving me that opportunity. As always, thank you @dylan_fpf for knowing me the best and getting me here despite my ever-changing schedule and working around kneebola.

Closing in on 5 years of powerlifting and I was just about ready to hang it up. I don’t know. Maybe a siesta and then #600? by @afhoogz

Addicted to progress. Kneebola holding up nicely 😎

The work doesn’t stop when I leave the court. Being a professional athlete means being mindful of every part of my game. Recovery, preparation, and staying intentional about how I move are all part of the process. The Neubie has become a valuable part of my routine, helping me continue to work toward performing at my best. 💪🏾

This doesn’t mean you ignore it and run through a wall. But almost always, there is something to be done to aid in the recovery process. by @afhoogz

How lucky I feel to have created a life where get to press pause, pop up to VT 🍁 and celebrate the beautiful wedding for my dear friend @emily.boyden with @amandakasper17 & @paigetarasiak at her family home @thebarnatboydenfarmvt

Getting older often feels like more and more responsibilities and less moments to dance with your friends. Never taking a single one of these for granted 🥹🥂❤️

“just keep livin… lower case because life is nobody’s proper noun, and there’s no “g” on the end of livin because life’s a verb.”

If you told me I’d squat 330 after 7 knee surgeries, I wouldn’t have believed you.

Looking back, finding the weight room earlier in life might have saved me from 1 or 2 of those surgeries.

That doesn’t mean ignoring medical advice or thinking you know better. It means being willing to ask enough questions and consider other possibilities when the recommendation doesn’t feel aligned with where you are in life, your goals, or the demands you’re trying to get back to.

For me, that meant pivoting from soccer to powerlifting as a way to keep me engaged and be able to COMPETE at a high level. by @afhoogz
