ANCESTRAL SONORO — SOUTH AFRICA 2026
Ancestral Sonoro is an artistic research and cultural exchange project exploring the agogô as an instrument of memory, ancestry and knowledge transmission within the African diaspora in Brazil.

Through music, movement, oral history and collective learning, the project creates connections between Afro-Brazilian practices and cultural, musical and bodily expressions from the African continent.

The project also contributes to the creation of the Sound Book, bringing together three curatorial strands — Sound, Image and Text — through sound recordings, photography and oral accounts connected to the agogô and its cultural meanings.
