Life has a whacky sense of humour doesn't it? Go to your Destiny. Be You. 🧡 by @agrifforama
Beating serious alcohol addiction has given me the tools to become aware of other emerging ones. Phone addiction is in my opinion more insidious and probably effects more of us than we care to admit. After all we use it for so many essential tasks. When you give up liquor you usually tip every bottle down the sink, throw away the empties and stay away from bars and bottle shops. Going sober from the scroll is a little more challenging since you can't throw your phone away entirely. Social media (for me that's mostly instagram) has been sucking me into its vortex more and more recently. As much as it's a great tool to share my offerings as a creator, I can't help but get sucked into the rip of consumption at times too. A sick part of me just doesn't want to miss an episode of "the world as we know it is coming to an end". So instead of struggling in the sea of outrage, political divide and fear mongering for a moment longer I've recognised that my consumption has surpassed healthy moderation. It's time for a break. A chance to reset my short term dopamine receptors and be more present with the simple things. It also gives me a break from the self imposed pressure to create reels and carousels that have a lifespan shorter than a mosquito. I need that every now and then. I'm looking forward to reading some good books, playing my didgeridoo and working on a few improvements to my caravan. Practising yoga and training without filming anything. Some time in nature and just watching the trees dance in the breeze. I'll be teaching Yoga as always at @thehotyogaroom_mooloolaba so you can come and move with me there. For those of you that fancy a chat give us a buzz or let's catch up for a coffee. If you enjoy learning Movement then check out the free online Locomotion Challenge I have in my profile, my online courses or heaps of free tutorials on my YouTube channel. The links are in my profile. I see you once I'm cleansed and my brain feels replenished. by @agrifforama
Firstly, I'm not really fond of the term "Advanced Asana". I myself have only been teaching Yoga for 2 years so I'm very much a beginner myself. In my humble limited experience, flying through the air doesn't make you better at Yoga. Yoga is after all, as Pantajali clearly defines in the Yoga Sutras, the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. But, we have to call this flying around on our hands stuff something in the context of modern Yoga so here we are. It teaches you many things inside the greater container that is Yoga. For me, patience is the biggest lesson. These skills take many years to acquire. The quality of the shapes you can make reflects the time, effort, discipline and consistency you can bring to the practice. You will learn how to fall....but more importantly, how to get back up. It's also unlikely you will learn the kind of skills I'm showing here in general Yoga classes. You will need to carve out special sessions to practice the relevant techniques that unlock these shapes. Most people will never do this because its.....hard. Your ego might not like being against a wall for many years (hint....much of my arm balancing practice still uses a wall...its become a dear friend). I've had many people ask me to teach them handstands. Only a select few are prepared to dedicate the time, energy and effort into the practice for long enough to get to the "fun stuff". For those that stick it out the reward is a deep inverted presence where yes, the fluctuations of the mind do fade away when you're upside down. You will also have the skillset of discipline that is transferable to anything you set your mind to in life. You are now capable of doing hard things. I will be teaching another Advanced Asana class @thehotyogaroom_mooloolaba on Saturday 24 October at 10am. If you want to learn, join me. by @agrifforama

East Side Scramble up Mt Tibrogargan. Not for the faint hearted! There are 4 incredible caves before the summit to explore. A big Eagle circled overhead while we soaked up the views. Great to meet two really helpful fellas half way up who gave us some great route tips. Thanks to my buddy Kona for showing me where this trail is. I had only ever been up the more popular Western face before. We came down the Western side which made life easier. Mt Tibrogargan is located in the Glasshouse Mountains on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland (Australia). There are beginner level trails around the base but the summits are a decent Scramble that require a decent level of fitness (and courage!). by @agrifforama
Here's a 5 Skill Locomotion Flow Sequence you can learn. These are just some of the fun elements you can play with on the ground. These low gait crawling patterns are great tools for improving mobility and bodyweight awareness. I have a full 30 minute training video on YouTube explaining each skill and how to build this combo if you want to take a deeper dive. At 45, Aaron’s reason for training is pretty simple. Stay strong, keep moving and be able to keep up with four kids. Thanks for sharing your experience, Aaron. by @agrifforama
