POSTS STORIES REELS

অহংকার ꦩꦠꦶ evolved from a collective desire to crush arrogance. the one within and without. Sound has been a weapon of disabling, numbing affect. A colony is set up in the mind through the sound of arrogance.
This arrogance takes the shape of inter-relational ignorance, violence, erasure. To make with love, is to be with love. Nothing germinates from arrogance, arrogance only sediments.

Attention at its purest form is prayer.
Care in its truest form delivers grace.
And love, its only form is resistance

@ahankar_mati welcomes loved ones to our world.
born from consistent efforts to unlearn and unsettle the arrogance of colonial sound, the violence within and without. we invite our dear ones to join us in our prayer, our performances are nothing but prayers to god. prayer at its greatest form is attention. attention leads us to care. care opens us up to grace. grace delivers us to love’s feet. Kali’s womb.

we will present 3 working pieces. each spectated by an interval. each piece roots within a situated narrative/sound tradition.

first there is Rasa, the subcontinental aesthetic theory of emotions. next comes Qawwali, the Sufi practice of devotional incantations. and finally with Kakawin, the ancient Javan tradition translating/transforming epic narratives across situated contexts.

অহংকার means arrogance
ꦩꦠꦶ means death
