Proof of existence....

To be totally honest, at one point, I thought we were done as after the last LP came out we pretty much disintegrated.

Sadly, over the last two years, Richard, James, and Ian decided their AF time was up (we love them all and are still very close].

However, Ben & I don't go down without a fight so we are pleased to offically announce that Mark Russell (who worked with us on the last lp) has joined us on Keys, Adam Parker from @mybestunbeatenbrother is now on drums (we've been friends for 20+years and was drumming on the other side of the Seethrustars 7" we self-released) and finally, the return of Paul Browning who was our original guitarist back in the b.e.a.b Approved days and played on the first AF Ep.

I guess sometimes a shake-up is a good thing as we are sounding immense at rehearsals, and all being well will have a new LP in the can before the end of the year.... no pressure.

Onwards x

Matt.

How can it be two years already since our 6th album was released into the world.. via @clubac30

Did you get a copy of the vinyl or CD?

What's your favourite tune from it?

Slowly piecing the new demos together.... by @airformation

Happy December!

There were plans for 2025, but they are now plans for 2026, hopefully not plans for 2027, but if they are, they are.. Life is never straightforward, eh.

Anyhow, lots of new song cooking and some changes round the corner.

Hope everyone is well out there. Look after each other.

Matt x

Another 57 Octaves Below era snap.

The Freebutt - Brighton - July 2005. For a time, it felt like we were the house band as we played there so often.. Loved that place.

57 Octaves Era.. Brixton Windmill - London - July 2005.

Minimal gear - Maximum noise.

A couple of weeks late, but just realised our first official @clubac30 release "57 Octaves Below" EP is 20 years old! 9th May 2005. Also, our first recording with Pat Collier. It was something special.

'Hope' was due to be the lead track, but 'For The Hours' took a magical turn during recording.. so we switched it round. 'Never Far Away' was always a blast to play live, as was 'Ghosts', but I don't think Ian will ever convince Ben to play it again.

They were fun times, and I miss them.

Seasons Greetings. Thanks for all the kind words said about our 'self-titled' LP released back in April and a big thank you to those of you who fly the AF flag, it's more appreciated than I can say. Hopefully, AF will be back in some shape or form during 2025.

We are incredibly sad to hear of the passing of the wonderful Pat Collier.. From being a 13 year old listening to @thewonderstuffofficial HUP, reading sleeve notes and seeing his name for the first time to 2004 being told we were being booked in with him to record our first @clubac30 release was a dream come true... we drove up from Worthing to meet him at his studio in Tooting and sat on a sofa while he played our previous recordings.. after which he said he was happy to work with us, which amazed me.

Roll on 20 years later, four albums and numerous EPs and singles, all recorded with him. It can not be overstated how important to Air Formation he was.

We will miss him so much and I (we) will treasure the time we spent with him.

Condolences to his family and friends. X
