I still can’t believe it. I don’t think I ever will.

On December 18, 2025, God called my sweet, beautiful mama, Rowena Maria Regina Zuniga Opinaldo Wahab, back to Him.

She was mercy in human form—sweet, loving, joyful, generous, funny, creative… truly one of one. I knew all her seasons: the bright ones and the heavy ones, the little changes, the different laughs and voices, the versions of her only a daughter gets to witness. I watched her cook with love, and live with joy—playing, singing, dancing, driving, thriving. With teeth or without, she was breathtakingly radiant in every season. Always.

My heart keeps reaching for you, Mama. There was still so much life I wanted to show you—so many places, so many simple moments. But insha Allah, what we didn’t finish here will be completed there. What we couldn’t hold onto in this dunya will be returned to us in Jannah.

I miss you in a way words can’t carry. But I hold tight to what Allah promised. Insha Allah, we will reunite. I pray you are in peace—surrounded by light, wrapped in Allah’s comfort, mercy, and love.

Sleep gently and peacefully, my angel—until the day Allah brings us back together, and I feel your hold and your kiss again.

Mahal na mahal kita.

Please keep my mom in your duas.
May Allah grant her Jannat-ul-Firdous, forgive her, elevate her rank, and make her grave spacious and filled with His light. May He shade her with His mercy, make the Sirat easy for her, and reunite our family with her in the highest place—forever.

If you can, please do sadaqah on her behalf: feed someone who’s hungry, feed the homeless, feed stray cats or any animal you come across, or invite someone in and share a warm meal in her name. May Allah accept it and make it a means of light for her.

Alhamdulillah for everything.

It’s been a long journey, filled with many ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Over the years, I’ve had to balance school, work, and caring for my parents. At times, that meant putting school on pause so I could make sure they were okay—and I would make that choice all over again.

I only wish my mom had been given more time here to see this moment and know that I did it all for her and my dad.

This is for you, Mama and Papa. I love you both more than words could ever express, and I’m endlessly grateful to be your child. Mama, I hope you’re watching over me and continuing to guide me. I would give anything for you to be here with us, celebrating these moments by our side—but Insha Allah, there is khair in everything.

Thank you for every sacrifice, every prayer, and all the love and support you’ve given me. This achievement belongs to you just as much as it belongs to me.

I wish you were here, Mama. I hope I made you both proud. by @aishah.opinaldo
