POSTS STORIES REELS

According to legend, Garni was built in honor of Mithra — the God of the Sun. Mithra was known as Mher (or Mihr) and was one of the most revered gods in pre-Christian Armenia. He was also perceived as the creator of the world.

Mithra defeated the first living being — a bull, from whose body grasses, plants, and animals emerged. Later, he was taken to the sky by the sun, from where he watches over those who honor him.

Today, we celebrated the discovery of a bull’s head during excavations, most likely belonging to an ancient religious figure or sculpture. As far as I understand, the head will remain in the temple, and visitors will be able to come and see it.
