✨ @krysres, the film’s director, co-producer, and photographer, captured this powerful series of portraits while also stepping in front of the camera.

Krysten's vision for this photoshoot was to capture modern day ‘aito hine, women who move between tradition and contemporary life, carrying their culture with pride.

Through her lens, each portrait highlights strength, grace, and connection: connection to themselves, to each other, to their fenua, and to the natural world around them. The women wear elements of traditional clothing alongside contemporary touches, blending cultural heritage with modern expression — a reflection of identity, creativity, and continuity.

✨ To carry life is to embody the quiet strength of nature. Between cultural heritage and inner transformation, this image celebrates a sacred moment of renewal — a woman fully alive, in harmony with the earth and sky around her.

@tehani_robinson, the film's co-producer and choreographer who carried the project, shaping meaning through dance that carries both cultural depth and emotional resonance. In her words: "For me, Aito Hine is a way to celebrate women, to highlight their courage and incredible capacity for adaptation and transformation. It is also a way to pay special tribute to Polynesian women by highlighting our rich and unique culture. This is why I chose the 'ōte'a as a catalyst for expressing this vital force through energetic and powerful movements. The music, a mix of traditional drums and modern beats created specifically for the movie, captures the film’s essence – the past we carry within us to build tomorrow’s future."

Selelina Pakaïna, co-producer and assistant director posing in front of the camera. In her words: "The goal of this film is to celebrate
women, to affirm that they hold within themselves all the keys to move forward, and in turn become a source of inspiration for us all. The vahine in this film are unequivocally 'aito hine, modern-day
warrior women who inherited rich cultural practices. Among these, the film highlights ‘ori tahiti as a vehicle for transmission,
which like any artistic and cultural practice is ever evolving at the pace of society."

🌺 “We learn by standing close enough to listen.”
In Aito Hine, the elders remind us that wisdom is shared through songs, every day gestures, and time spent together. They bring patience, memory, and a way of seeing the world that can’t be rushed.
