The Broken Arrow Skyrace is proud to announce the 2026 Broken Arrow Skyrace Inclusivity Initiative, presented in partnership with ACG (All Conditions Gear), a division of Nike.

The Broken Arrow Skyrace Advisory Council launched the initiative after extensive consultations with 20 BIPOC, LTBGQIA+, and Non-Binary run clubs from across the state of California. “We have always sought to create a welcoming environment for all runners,” said race founder Brendan Madigan. “This partnership is a bold, proactive step to make trail running more accessible to historically underrepresented communities, which is essential if we truly mean “all runners.”

With ACG’s generous support, nearly 100 athletes will receive complimentary entries, early registration access, products, and/or travel stipends, as well as the opportunity to participate alongside some of the world’s top trail runners at one of North America’s largest and most competitive trail and ultrarunning events.

The goal of our Inclusivity Initiative Application is to ask listening-first questions that surface lived experience, reduce assumptions, and help us understand where systems - not people - create barriers. It is our hope to make you feel welcome before you even lace up your trail shoes at our event.

For 2026, the Broken Arrow Skyrace is excited to work with new and existing running clubs.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their application via our link in bio with run clubs chosen by no later than 4/1/26

Part 5/5

Four years ago, Santa Mujeres was just two women who envisioned creating an inclusive running club for BIPOC women of all shapes, sizes, and paces. It's been four incredible years of running together, growing stronger, and achieving more than we have ever imagined. Throughout those years, we have achieved much, and have witnessed our members reach incredible milestones alongside us.

One of our proudest moments has been officially becoming a non-profit and forming a board to guide us forward! We’re beyond proud of the community we’ve built and can’t wait to continue this journey with our incredible board leading the way.

Without further ado, we’re thrilled to introduce your SMRC Board Members! by @akagingersnap

Proud Daughter of Immigrants. I never forget the sacrifices my parents made for my Siblings and I to have a better Life. I have a heavy heart. I hurt for the families being separated. I hurt for the children. I grew up with a plan in case my Mom was picked up by La Migra. I remember hiding in the school bus because I didn’t see my Mom at the bus stop one day. I never thought those days would be back haunting our future generations. I pray for every child of immigrants. I stand with Immigrants.

Yesterday I caught up with my Bestie over Thai food and I talked to her about what the PCT project was about. Made smile that it made her smile. Also, made me reflect that I’m living an experience that once was a dream. I need to spend time enjoying the moment and the feelings of it, trying not to just move on to the next thing so quickly.

Eventually I’ll share the proper words. But for now these runs have given me more than I could have imagined. Access to Nature is so important and feel so grateful I can share this with others! Our @santamujeresrc 4th PCT run of our Montañas son para Todos project was a section that was new to all of us! NewTrails, New Sights, New Feelings. So grateful for the @runtherut Grant for making this project possible! There’s no doubt we’ve hit our goal but most importantly inspired wonder and empowered our community. We got to see a Young Woman on the PCT making her way South from Crater Lake. And it made me smile when conversations later were us asking ourselves, would we do something like that…Like I said more words later! Right now just Thoughts. by @akagingersnap

Interesting Life Fact: When I moved to San Diego 15 years ago, I planned to leave after a year and head to LA. But like they say “Si quieres hacer Dios reir dile tus planes” (If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.) Todo a su tiempo. New Chapter Loading…but 1st I promise to say Bye, even though I’m not very good at it.

PS. If you think there’s an opportunity I would be a good fit in LA, Reach out to your Girl! by @akagingersnap

In the Season of choosing myself, learning and growing.

I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 weeks since I attended @taketheleadwithus! Big Things Happening, Big Change Coming. My affirmation during this retreat was “I belong.” I belong in this group of incredible Women. I am part of this group of amazing Women!

Take The Lead this year was 🔥✨🔥, @alisonmdesir and @iammarthagarcia keep making this event better and more impactful each year. I connected with friends I made 2 years ago and new ladies. In this period of change and unknown, I’ve never been this confident and open to something new. No Fear just Lets Go! I’m excited for what’s next. And I know it’s because of the wonderful group of women I’m surrounded by!

E P I C. My 1st Coach, @coachbennett, who lead me to fall in love with Running and my current Coach and Homie @amarxson, did you know I’m a Coach too! Full Circle Moment. Thank you @milestonerunning for having this great event! Jen, you did amazing as interviewer! Great Conversation. Coach Bennet dropped some Gems of Knowledge that I will practice and implement in my own running and coaching!

I miss my homies and it was so dope to connect and Laugh! Here’s a 💎 from Coach: Surround yourself with people that make you Laugh! If you see the crew in Slide 5 & 6 together you know we got that covered! Laughing is a form of Recovery. I think @santamujeresrc is really good at that one! by @akagingersnap

✨ Today I proudly graduated from the @manadesandiego MANA Latina Leadership Program! ✨

Over the past four months, I gave up a few Saturdays and a couple of races, but in truth, it never felt like a sacrifice. Each session was an investment in myself, my leadership, and my community. I gained knowledge, confidence, and connections with incredible Latina leaders who inspire me to keep building bridges across people, communities, and teams.

This program reminded me that leadership is not just about titles, it’s about showing up with integrity, collaboration, and resilience, and creating space for others to rise. I walk away with a deeper sense of purpose and a stronger commitment to leading by example.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect: graduating as we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month. A month to honor our Cultura, Celebrate our Resilience, and Uplift the Brilliance of our Comunidad.

Here’s to continuing the journey: empowering others, connecting across different groups, and leading with Corazon. I’m just getting started, 😉.
