I’m rewatching Mad Men and in season 1 Joan has this zinger of a line: “Sometimes when people get what they want, they realize how limited their goals were.” I’ve accomplished my goals and now it’s time to find even bigger ones! Besos babies!! by @akilidav

For our #Seen009 studio visit, associate editor @akilidav interviewed interdisciplinary artist @sanfordbiggers at his studio in the Bronx.

“Within the industrial building housing his larger studio exists a white-walled room adorned by projects in various stages of completion and piles of material waiting to find homes in his art. He calls this space his brain,” writes @akilidav. “Further inside is a homey office he calls his heart, which contains keyboards, an audio mixing station, and speakers.”

Read the full interview and order your copy of #Seen009 at the link in our bio or visit blackstarfest.org/seen.

You can find some of Biggers’ work at the @studiomuseum, which reopens to the public tomorrow.

Won’t you celebrate with me what I have shaped into a kind of life? I had no model.

Every day I wake up determined to live the life that I deserve, even if it’s hard or uncomfortable. It’s the least that I owe myself. 16 year old Akili, you would be GAGGED. by @akilidav
