POV: You’re Delusional Enough to Self-fund an International Documentary 📷💄🎥

Two years ago today, three people, three cameras and one crazy idea set off from Manchester to tell a story about drag, identity and what it means to be authentically yourself.

✨ 18 months of filming
✨ 4 countries
✨ 12 transformations
✨ Countless unforgettable people

We faced closed doors, doubts and more than a few moments of “What are we doing?!” But the doors that opened, they opened wide and they led us to places and people we could never have imagined. We laughed, cried, danced, learned and we celebrated the courage it takes to be unapologetically yourself.

We ended filming earlier this year with an incredible live show, The Real You Revealed, at the Unity Theatre Liverpool and now, the story is coming together. With an original score by @richietaylorholmes and an original song by Midnight Café, we’re getting closer to sharing it with the world.

This documentary is about drag. About identity. About connection. But most of all, about celebrating life, in all its glorious, messy, beautiful forms ✨

Emmet’s First Reaction After the Makeover 💄

“Oh my God! This is outrageous. Like, not what I expected at all.”

And just like that, our 12th and final transformation for ‘The Realest You’ was done.

Serving a full 80s vibe with a bold orange theme, Rudi created a fun, yet glamorous look, bringing out Emmet’s hidden @cheryldragqueen energy. The moment Emmet caught his reflection in the mirror he simply felt beautiful. Completely unrecognisable in the best possible way, this transformation wasn’t just about the makeup or the glam. It was about seeing confidence come alive and embracing the unexpected.

After 12 incredible transformations, each telling their own story, this was the perfect finale. It was a reminder that drag is more than makeup. It’s creativity, self-expression, confidence and diversity ✨

Oleg’s First Reaction After the Makeover 💄

“This is wild. Wow, this is so cool.”

Transformed by Rudi, into a dazzling diamond Vegas showgirl with a custom headpiece, the reveal was more than a visual transformation, it was magical. Oleg couldn’t stop smiling, staring at his long silver nails and his reflection, he kept falling in love with a version of himself he had never met before 💎

Drag has a beautiful way of revealing confidence, freedom and parts of ourselves waiting to shine. So to make this moment even more special, Rudi captured every single diamond’s sparkle using long exposure photography ✨

Nach der Ausstellung ist vor der Ausstellung ✨
Meine Ausstellung “Faces in Oil” ist gestern zu Ende gegangen – und ich bin unglaublich dankbar für all die Begegnungen, Gespräche und Eindrücke.
Umso mehr freue ich mich, das Zepter direkt weitergeben zu dürfen: an Matt Livesey, unseren Gastkünstler im Kulturrevier Radbod – zu Besuch aus Preston (England). 🇬🇧➡️🇩🇪 mit seiner Ausstellung

Connecting: Deconstruct ions and Reconstruct ions

Dieser Künstleraustausch bedeutet mir sehr viel. Ich habe Matt letztes Jahr bei Dreharbeiten in England kennengelernt – wir haben sofort connected, der Vibe hat gestimmt. Daraus entstand die Idee, ihn nach Hamm einzuladen. Und jetzt wird sie Realität.

Chapter 5 Copenhagen

The Beginning of the End ✨

“A photograph keeps a moment from fading away.”

We met Oleg in Gdańsk on our last day of shooting Chapter 4 and instantly felt there was one more story waiting to be told.

Oleg’s first time in drag was special - a diamond Vegas showgirl, transformed by Rudi with a custom headpiece. The reveal wasn’t just visual, it was emotional. Seeing himself in the mirror, he fell in love with a version of himself he hadn’t met before 💎

Our final transformation could have not been more bitchin’. Rudi transformed Emmet into an 80s blonde - bold, electric and wearing his signature colour orange. Seeing his reflection for the first time, disbelief turned into pure joy and ultimately into admiration ✴️

These first reactions reminded us that when you dare to step into something new, you don’t just change how you look, you discover how you feel.
