We are proud to introduce Ariane Leger Cantin — a Canadian artist based in Quebec City whose striking portraits explore femininity, sensuality, strength, and emotion.

Creativity has followed Ariane throughout her life. With a professional background as a hairstylist and former makeup artist for Lancôme, her eye has long been drawn to beauty, expression, and the subtle details of the human face. Photography, drawing, and painting became other ways of exploring that instinct.

In 2015, painting began to take a deeper place in her life. Working on large-scale canvases, Ariane discovered a space where she could release emotion, follow her imagination, and express different sides of herself — softness and strength, vulnerability and confidence, sensuality and presence.

Women remain at the heart of her work. Through expressive faces, dramatic contrasts, and captivating color, she creates portraits that feel both powerful and intimate.

Primarily working with acrylics, Ariane expands her surfaces through spray paint, modeling pastes, gels, glazes, and epoxy resin, building layers of texture and depth that give each portrait its own physical presence.

Today, creating exists alongside a full life. Ariane works as a hairstylist, trains four times a week, and is raising her young daughter — often leaving her only one morning each week to paint.

Yet she continues.

Because for Ariane, art is not simply something she needs motivation to pursue. Creating is something she needs in order to feel fulfilled.

“I was created to create.” ☀️

Why do you love painting so much?
@alcartist

Because every portrait gets to be a first love. The first line, the first layer, the moment silver leaf catches the light.

Catwoman, the gold blindfold, the Ferrari helmet, the black and white faces. Different pieces, same feeling, again and again.

Which one would you fall for first?

Every artist knows the difference between “I'm gonna” and “I did.” 🎨

One starts with an idea. The other ends with paint on your hands, a messy studio, and something that didn't exist yesterday.

We all have those moments when we keep thinking about creating something, waiting for the right mood, the perfect idea, or enough time.

But sometimes, the best thing you can do is simply pick up the brush and begin.

It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be made.

Because at the end of the day, creating something will always feel better than just thinking about it. ❤️
