There are projects one never really gets tired of. Especially if they keep confronting you, as the designer, with new exciting challenges! That is what happens with every issue of the Stadtteilzeitung Reininghaus, the participative newspaper of the Stadtteil Reininghaus in Graz put together by the amazing small team at @stadtteilmanagementreininghaus! We managed by the end of 2024, to pull off a fifth issue with a whole new design, typesetting, format and even a different touch and feel. It will probably condense itself even more in the upcoming issues and I am all thrills to get to it! #newspaper #neighbourhoodpaper #zeitung #stadtteilzeitung #reininghaus #graz #graphicdesign #editorialdesign #communitypaper #printdesign #print #berlinertabloid by @ale_scu
After more than two years in the making, Stadt Aufmöbeln is somehow (with a delay) landed into the material world. It‘s all around public furniture and their role in shaping urban spaces and behaviors. Starting and ending with perspectives from Vienna, the book features also projects carried in Italy, Australia, Belgium, Austria, France, Germany, Colombia. It was fun! I am happy it‘s done! 👌🏻 Book Editors: @christina_schraml and @martin_e_faerber With contributions (among others) from: @giannalui @pablocalderonsalazar @albsyo @mido_hue @bluehirsch @urbane_leere @nonconform.at @collectifetc @orizzontale_architecture @endboss.eu @zwopk @communa_asbl @kwildner @arquitecturaexpandida Publishers: @vfmk_books @social_design_studio_vienna @dieangewandte Illustrations: @yue_y.u Design: @ale_scu Printed by @gerindruckgmbh with the always present support of @johannes.fauland #graphicdesign #editorialdesign #bookdesign #vienna #urbanism #urbanfurniture #socialdesign #publicationdesign by @ale_scu
There is something absolutely sensational about working together with a musician and now that I am getting a grip at it I can again confirm this feeling and the euphoria that comes with it. I still remember the moment Phil got in touch for the first time. I was flattered by his kind words and eagerness in working with me on his online presence. What I have valued the most in working with Phil, is his absolute openness for the unplanned, unexpected and the “becoming” of our conceptual talks, which is basically how we got to what stands in the world wide web now. I have enjoyed every step of the process and I am so grateful. Shout out to this guy, go to his concerts, buy his music, have a chat! Thank you @pyaegermusic for your trust, kindness and patience, looking forward to read, listen and cheer for you from the audience! Check the site out at pyaeger.com and enjoy some “hidden“ sounds! Happy to hear any kinds of feedback. As usual I am very incredibly slow at documenting and sharing results and processes. I have to change that, not just for my own professional standing—which is clear to me I should care more for—but because I’ve had the luck to work with incredibly talented people that deserve to be seen. I’ll start off with something maybe a bit closer to me, from the moment I was actively involved in the project. Three years ago @rebreafa asked me if I wanted to be part of a call for funding she was writing with others from different countries and academic backgrounds. They were looking for someone non-academic and institutionally unbound to contribute with artistic perspectives and hands-on mentality and that would lead, curate and run a series of zine-making workshops cross-countries with different kinds of people using and managing “the library” – all based on the field research they would be leading within their respective academic boundaries. The fact that I have been asked—in the first place—came to me as a shock. One I am very glad for now. I’ve mostly been feeling scared and utterly unfit for the task. But sometimes uncertainty lead us into making decisions we ultimately won’t regret. What I thought would make me feel a complete failure then, filled me with pride, provided me the experience I needed, and made me comfortable in taking responsibility for something I didn’t really know how to do. It wasn’t all perfect. I wasn’t. But I have learned a lot. These other six people, a group of wonderful women, whom I admire each for different reasons and from different angles of their personalities and professions, have thought me so much and I couldn’t be more grateful to have done this with them. This publication, which I had the pleasure to design and co-author, and that collects a tiny part of the work we have done means a lot to me as I am sure it does to @rebreafa, Marion, @dr_fred_fld , Jamea, @riannevanmelik , Johanna and Lisa who have given me infinite trust and a lot of memories I do and will cherish, until the next project. ;) Printed and assembled by @gerindruckgmbh @johannes.fauland #graphicdesign #bookdesign #publicationdesign #books #zinemaking by @ale_scu
