It was an honour to be invited back to speak about nipple and areola tattooing at the annual BRA Day at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH). 💗

BRA stands for Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day- a chance for people newly diagnosed with breast cancer, undergoing treatment or considering reconstruction to learn about their options and hear from both healthcare professionals and those with lived experience.

The day brought together an incredible group of speakers, including Dr Vani Prasad discussing lymphoedema, Dr Phoebe Prowse and Dr Naila Mouratova sharing reconstruction options, head breast reconstruction nurse Katrina Swanson, and Karen from Cancer Council.

We also heard personal experiences from some remarkable women. Thank you for sharing your stories so openly- your voices bring understanding, connection and reassurance to others navigating their own decisions.

I’m so grateful to be included alongside the amazing team who care for our beautiful clients. Being able to share how nipple tattooing can form part of someone’s reconstruction journey is something I’ll always feel passionate about. 🌸 @aleisha_tattoooo

Meet Sweet Nips! 💗 Heart-shaped silicone practice skins, created with a whole lot of love by me, for you.

Designed as a training and portfolio tool for nipple and areola tattooing, these little hearts give artists space to practise colour blending, shading and creating dimension over a raised nipple shape.

Combining my background in special effects makeup with my passion for medical tattooing and education, seeing these packaged and ready feels pretty special! 🌸

More than a tattoo cover-up 🖤

My client’s original tattoo was done while on holiday. When it wasn’t healing as expected, they had it checked and thankfully, this led to the discovery of a skin cancer. Its removal left a scar and an indentation within the tattoo.

Drawing on my extensive experience in scar coverage and tattoo cover-ups, I hand-drew a rose/peony to work with the area. Carefully positioned petals and shading create depth, drawing the eye towards the flower and away from the indentation.

The scar’s texture remains, but the artwork changes how your eye sees it. Such a meaningful piece to create, and thank you to my client for trusting me.

Loved creating this piece- a crumpled paper boat, its edges breaking away into wisps of smoke and the shape of a bird. 🖤

The contrast between the textured folds and soft, drifting smoke made this such a beautiful design to bring to life.

Something special is taking shape behind the scenes! 💗

My new heart-shaped silicone nipple training skins are currently being made especially for the APMAC Conference in Brisbane on 26 & 27 October- and this project feels like a full-circle moment.

Before tattooing, I was a special effects makeup artist. Around eight years ago, I revisited those skills to explore creating nipple prostheses, but with little ones and still breastfeeding, it became difficult to continue. The idea was put on hold, but never forgotten.

Now, with more artists interested in training in the beautiful service of nipple and areola tattooing, I finally have the opportunity to finish what I started years ago- bringing together my love of sculpting, tattooing and education. 🌸

These little hearts have a lot of history behind them, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

The absolutely amazing @aleisha_tattoooo has spent 8 days with us here in Perth and man has she blown us away!!! Her dedication to women who have had breast surgery and helping them in so many ways is just outstanding. Her skills and abilities are insane and we are so privileged that she let both me and @lexie.leigh.harris join her classes as most trainers will not train other trainers. Letting us enrol and passing on her skills and knowledge to us in paramedical tattooing and body art tattooing and getting to spend time with all the other beautiful students has been such a great experience! She will be back next year so if you are thinking of adding areola and 3d nipple tattooing to your skillet, send me a DM to join the waitlist. 💕

What an incredible result from our Pink Lotus Australia Fundraiser Luncheon! 💕 (I will be posting some amazing footage over the weekend!!)

To our 54 beautiful attendees - thank you for showing up, supporting our cause, donating, bidding, laughing and sharing such a special afternoon with us. Because of you, we raised an amazing $7,000 for Pink Lotus Australia Foundation.

A HUGE thank you to The Oakbank Hotel for hosting and helping organise such a beautiful event. Your generosity, support and all the work behind the scenes helped make the day what it was. 🤍

To every local business and individual who donated products, vouchers, prizes, services, time or support - we are incredibly grateful. Events like this simply aren’t possible without a community willing to get behind them.

Every dollar raised helps Pink Lotus Australia continue supporting women following breast cancer and breast reconstruction, including helping provide access to subsidised 3D nipple and areola tattooing when charity funds are available.
