This project in Sarek National Park, Sweden, integrates biological motifs with Scandinavian cultural influences to create eco-resilient structures adept at enduring harsh climates. Inspired by the structural properties of comb jellies and the skeletal form of Jörmungandr from Norse mythology, it incorporates Nassim Nicholas Taleb's 'antifragility' concept. The design features a Wilderness Retreat with a bar and sauna, fostering a welcoming atmosphere aligned with Swedish traditions. It employs phase change materials and 3D-printed facades with embedded fluid systems for optimal heat retention and minimal energy loss, leveraging thermal properties of ice to enhance energy efficiency through biologically inspired, architecturally optimized designs. #architecture #bartlett #bartlettucl #bartlettarchucl #architecturerender #architectureanimation #houdini #houdinivfx #sideeffects #houdiniredshift #redshift #architecturedesign #architecturestudent #architecturemasters #ucl #unreal #unrealengine by @alexa.wu_portfolio

The project explores the concept of translating intangible graphic messages into tangible architectural forms, serving as the thematic cornerstone of the design. This translation process is applied across varying scales and degrees of natural and artificial elements to ensure alignment with the local environment. Specifically, the project incorporates a gradient of integration, from purely natural components through to a fusion of natural and artificial elements, and finally to entirely artificial constructs. This approach not only respects the existing landscape but also harmonizes the built structure with its surroundings. The architectural design of the building is particularly innovative as it simulates potential extreme environmental conditions found on Mars. This simulation is achieved through the strategic use of sandstorms and controlled lighting conditions, creating a Mars-like atmosphere conducive to an Astronaut Training Center. The objective is to replicate the harsh Martian environment to prepare astronauts for future missions, facilitating realistic training scenarios within a controlled terrestrial setting. The integration of these environmental simulations into the architectural fabric not only enhances the functionality of the training center but also pushes the boundaries of architectural design by marrying environmental dynamics with structural aesthetics. #architecture #cinema4d #octane #rhino #octanerender #blender #blender3d #blendercommunity #blenderrender #blenderart #blenderanimation #octanerenderer #architecturedesign #architecturedrawing #architecturestudent #architecturedraw by @alexa.wu_portfolio
