I recently attended the ISCM’s 2026 World New Music Days, and here’s a bit of what I took away! I made lots of sounds and colors, but I want to start with a brief description of the organization: The International Society of Contemporary Music (ISCM) was founded in Salzburg in 1923 with the intention to transcend worldwide political discourse and promote international collaboration toward a common goal: the creation, presentation, and preservation of new music and living composers. With participating organizations from about 50 countries, their World New Music Days festival is one of the most diverse, exciting, and important contemporary music festivals to attend! Composers submit works, educators bring students, and many travel miles to gather in-person and appreciate this one-of-a-kind event. I’m extremely grateful to @sfasumusic to have attended, feel free to learn more about the ISCM on their website: https://iscm.org The programming and performances were stellar! I’ve included a personal list of standout works from ISCM World New Music Days performances, the names of which are also listed below: Jessie Leov @jessieleovmusic “convergency” (New Zealand) @myrtinizami “Gone in No Time” (Greece) @christianmoralesossio “Draft for Extinct Birds” (Chile) @tyttiarola “Helmi” (Finland) @madlimarje “Faux Flora” (Estonia) Mark Micchelli “A Difference of Sixty-Eight Days” (USA) @doinarotaru “Himere” (Romania) The influence of my experience at the 2026 ISCM World New Music Days in Bucharest, Romania truly cannot be understated. Not only was it my first experience abroad, but the variety of composers represented and opportunities for mentorship were extraordinary… I’ve written more on this topic in an article featured in ISCM’s July 2026 newsletter, which can be read at the link in my bio. Despite being oceans apart, @unheardofensemble’s Collaborative Composer’s Initiative (CCI) 2026 in St. Louis, MO has given me the opportunity to express my gratitude to @iscm_romanian_section and to all who participated in organizing / making magic at the festival. This appreciation takes the form of a new piece titled “Travertine & Marble”, which premieres this Friday, Augu by @alexbrown.music

I really enjoyed making the soundtracks for these short films, it was a fun semester working with these crazy creative folk. Thank you to all the film students who directed and worked on these four well-nuanced projects, I look forward to more of these! My YouTube channel has longer cuts of these, so if you dig them or know someone who acted in them, go check that out! https://youtu.be/Y1DFSLGGQ4A The Directors: The Interview - @orangejuice_toothpaste Hide and Seek - @kazmirozki iNVERSE - @ryan_germannx Refractive Error - @forfishpictures #shortfilm🎞📽⚡️ #film #composition #sfafinearts #sfamusic #sfasrt #filmscoringcomposer #filmscore #filmscoring by @alexbrown.music
