Writing isn’t my 9–5. ✍🏼

So when do I write?

Whenever the hell I can. 😂

At the salon? Obviously. 💇🏼‍♀️
In bed? Frequently. 🛏️
While pretending to pay attention to a conversation? Allegedly. 👀

Because apparently writing a book happens in the cracks between everything else.

📖 Draft 0 → published author

Follow along for the chaos, the questionable plot decisions, and hopefully… a finished book. ✨

📖 Draft 0 → published author. Book 1 is an adult romantasy in the portal fiction genre. Follow me down the rabbit hole for the chaos, the questionable plot decisions, and hopefully… a finished book. by @alexmckeownauthor

Consider this my formal notice of absence from Oct 27-Nov 8.

My copy of ACOTAR 6 arrives November 4. I need at least four days to finish it, process whatever Sarah J. Maas does to me, and return to society.

Until then, please respect my privacy during this difficult time. 😂

When are you going offline to read ACOTAR 6? And be honest: are four days enough?

idk how this works but here’s my friend’s dog’s audition to be Esther McEwan’s dragon-riding stunt double 🐉😂

Skills: being a good boy, dragon cuddles, destroying furniture (has that in common with Xaden).

What role are YOU auditioning for in the Empyrean series or your favourite romantasy book? 👀 Drop your application in the comments. I need to see this casting department get unhinged. 😂👇

400 OF YOU?! 🥹✨

Cheering me on as I read books, write books and occasionally embarrass myself on the internet. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. THANK YOU for being here!

I was going to celebrate with an Avengers clip, but I am learning about copyright law as part of my reader to published author journey and welp sharing a clip no matter how small is in fact a crime 🦝😂

So instead, you get me awkwardly miming the scene because I don’t talk much about my love of action and sci-fi films on here and the avengers deserves some love 🫯💎♥️

Jokes aside, I’m looking into copyright and how to create content that respects the ownership and rights of the people who make the things we love. And honestly? It’s confusing. There’s a lot to navigate, and I want to get it right.

So if you know anything about copyright and creating bookish content, please share your knowledge! I’d love to hear your thoughts on where you draw the line, too. 👇

Onwards to 500! 🚀

✨ WIP WEDNESDAY ✨

I’m officially halfway through Part 2!

I have safely passed through the midpoint gate and, according to Save the Cat, I’m now entering the Bad Guys Close scenes.

Which is very fun for me! For my characters… it’s something like this:👸🏼💋🏔️💅🏃‍♀️🪤⚔️

Life is short. Tackle your day with the audacity of an illiterate 19-year-old chosen one. 🗡️👑

You know the one. No plan, no experience, chronic main character syndrome, and somehow still convinced they are going to save the world before lunch.

Be that audacious today. ✨🧨🎇🪩

What’s your main character move today? Tell me below.👇

Current read: The Knight and the Moth by @rmgillig

Things I never thought I’d say: I like my romantasy WITH a cantankerous gargoyle with unexpected depth.

Tell me yours — who was supposed to be a side character but became THE character?

No notes. Let’s go girls.

Emilio Sakraya IS Xaden Riorson. I was sick and this cured me.
