Happy (belated) Halloween everybody! I’m really proud of my (mostly) DIY #Riddler costume this year! Hope you all had fun! by @aliasnicksmyth
Happy Halloween Everybody! This is my favorite holiday, and one of my FAVORITE traditions since I was a little kid is, after a night of trick-or-treating (and now currently partying), I love to end the night by watching a spooky movie. So let’s do yet another one of my recommendations lists, with 19 of my personal favorite movies to watch on Halloween. (With the final 4 slides being my absolute favorites) “Fallen”: Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Elias Koteas, & James Gandolfini star in this underrated supernatural crime thriller about a detective investigating a string of murders, despite the original serial killer being executed the night before. #Fallen #DenzelWashington #JamesGandolfini #JohnGoodman #Azazel “Predator”: If you’re looking for a bit of action to go with your horror, why not try the classic 80s Schwarzenegger film that launched one of the most iconic sci-fi/action-horror franchises of all time? #Predator #ArnoldSchwarzenegger #ThePredator #Prey #Yautja “Doctor Sleep”: Hot Take… I like this sequel to “The Shining” more than the original Shining movie itself! This Mike Flanagan film is absolutely brilliant in its writing, themes, & acting, particularly a heartbreakingly powerful performance from Ewan McGregor as an adult, ptsd-stricken Danny Torrance. #DoctorSleep #StephenKing #EwanMcGregor #TheShining #DannyTorrance “Kwaidan”: This 1960s Japanese anthology gives you 4 spooky ghost stories. The cinematography, sets, lighting, & style is absolutely GORGEOUS! My personal favorite story segment is “The Snow Maiden”, based on one of my favorite Japanese myths. If you’re a film buff, I implore you to watch this movie! #Kwaidan #GhostStories #JapaneseMythology #SnowMaiden #YukiOnna “Fright Night (2011)”: While it doesn’t always age perfectly, Colin Farrell & David Tennant are absolutely iconic is their respective roles as the scumbag vampire & hilarious vampire hunter. #FrightNight #VampireHunter #Vampires #ColinFarrell #DavidTennant “The Prophecy”: Christopher Walken plays the archangel Gabriel, as he stalks a detective, a Sunday school teacher, & a possessed Native American child, in order to bring about the apocalypse. This movie is dripping w by @aliasnicksmyth
Alrighty, I have 3 more lists I want to do before the Halloween season ends, and because I know how much you LOVE my opinions on stuff, let’s start with some of my personal tv show recommendations to binge on Halloween. (Not in order, but the last 4 slides are my personal favorites) Also, I’m gonna leave out the obvious ones like “Supernatural”, “Stranger Things”, “Interview With A Vampire”, & “What We Do In The Shadows”. Anyway, let’s begin… #Halloween #HorrorShows #TVshows BBC/Netflix’s “Dracula”: While the final episode isn’t perfect, the creators of “Sherlock” make the first 2 episodes not only one of my favorite Dracula adaptations, but one of the best interpretation of the classic vampire I’ve ever seen! Claes Bang is SO charming, funny, & scary in the role! #Dracula #DraculaNetflix #ClaesBang #Vampires #CountDracula “From”: Just starting watching this show the other day. And so far, so good. Very creepy and atmospheric. Reminds me of that old “Twilight Zone” episode with the guy in the diner. #From #FromShow “Todd McFarlane’s Spawn”: Based on the famous comic book from Image, a dead marine sells his soul to the devil to see his wife again, rising from the grave as a powerful hellspawn. Keith David’s voice is so epic as the title character, he’s now considered the official voice of the character in the same way Conroy is as Batman & Hamill is as Joker. Also, I LOVE this kind of dark, shows, grimy animation! #Spawn #ImageComics #KeithDavid #ToddMcFarlane #SpawnComics “Evil”: A psychiatrist, a technical expert, & a psychic priest are tasked by the Catholic Church to investigate possible supernatural incidents, mostly involving a satanist named Dr. Leland Townsend. This show is so much fun. It’s creepy, surreal, and while it’s not a comedy, it’s got a great sense of humor to it, particularly with Michael Emerson as the main villain. Plus it’s got some great monster/demon effects! #Evil #MichaelEmerson #MikeColter #Exorcists #EvilShow “Gravity Falls”: This show is a classic for people my age. It’s got genius writing, hilarious jokes, a great mystery, and is genuinely REALLY scary for a Disney cartoon! Plus, one of the 3 main protagonists, Grunkle Stan, re by @aliasnicksmyth
With the new “VisionQuest” show (it’s great, check it out) bringing back one of the MCU’s best/most underutilized villains, Ultron, and with Halloween celebrating all things evil and crazy, I thought I’d share my 19 Favorite Antagonists In The Marvel Cinematic Universe (in order). Rules: - JUST villains from the MCU films (so no Magneto or Mystique) - Antagonists, not just villains (some characters on this list are actually good guys, but they are the main opposing force to the main hero) - ONLY when they’re antagonists (so if I add, say… Loki, I’m only counting Loki when he was a villain, not after he was redeemed. That’s why Nebula’s not on this list) (Honorable mentions include Killmonger, High Evolutionary, & Billy “Jigsaw” Russo) #MCU #MarvelCinematicUniverse #Marvel #MCUvillains #MarvelVillains 19. Jean Grey from “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”: A perfect introduction to the new MCU X-Men, Sadie Sink is so good as this incredibly dangerous yet INCREDIBLY heartbreaking mutant fugitive. Plus it’s just a nerdy dream come true to see Spider-Man, Hulk, Jean Grey, & Punisher on screen together. #JeanGrey #Phoenix #DarkPhoenix #MarvelGirl #SpiderManBrandNewDay 18. Loki: I mean, do I really need an explanation? #Loki #Thor #TomHiddleston 17. Hela from “Thor: Ragnarok: Cate Blanchett is clearly having a ball as this sadistically power-mad goth Goddess Of Death. #Hela #Hel #GoddessOfDeath #ThorRagnarok 16. Quentin Beck aka Mysterio from “Spider-Man: Far From Home”: Jake Gyllenhaal takes one of Spider- Man’s more pathetic foes and turns this high-tech illusionist / con-artist into a genuinely sociopathic mastermind. #Mysterio #QuentinBeck #SpiderManFarFromHome #SpiderMan 15. Agatha Harkness from “WandaVision” & “Agatha All Along”: Moving from a fake magical con-artist to a real magical con-artist, Kathryn Hahn is so charming & kooky as this manipulative serial killer witch. Plus she’s got probably the biggest body count of anybody on this list! (With the “twist” song in the final episode of Agatha being a personal highlight) #AgathaHarkness #AgathaAllAlong #WandaVision #Witches 14. Adrian Toomes aka the Vulture from “Spider-Man: Homecoming”: Goddamn do I love Micha by @aliasnicksmyth
Alrighty. After making you hear about my opinions on vampire & werewolf stories, let me make you hear about something I’m more “qualified” to discuss.. comic books! I love horror comics almost as much as I love superhero comics! And for Halloween, I thought I’d share some of my favorites. I wanted to not add the more obvious ones like Hellboy, Sandman, “Blackest Night”, Spawn, & “Batman: The Long Halloween”. They’re GREAT books, but I wanted to discuss some lesser known ones. So here are 18 comics I highly recommend to read on Halloween! (Not in order) #Comics #ComicBooks #Halloween #Horror #HorrorComics “Dr. Strange vs Dracula: The Montesi Formula”: I love classic Marvel horror comics. They have such a perfect blend of gothic horror & outlandish superheroics. In this story, Dr. Strange & Blade team up to stop Dracula from stealing the Book Of The Dead. #DrStrange #Dracula #Blade #Darkhold #DoctorStrange “Something Is Killing The Children”: In this critically acclaimed series, in a small town plagued by horrific tragedies, a mysterious woman named Erica arrives and claims the culprits are monsters only children can see. #SomethingIsKillingTheChildren #JamesTynionIV #EricaSlaughter #BoomStudios “Ghostbusters: Mass Hysteria!”: In this epic event comic, the new and old Ghostbusters band together when Gozer’s psychopathic sister Tiamat, tries to do what her sibling never could… destroy the world! #Ghostbusters #Gozer #MassHysteria #Tiamat #ExtremeGhostbusters “Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter”: Actor David Dastmalchian creates this silly yet heartbreaking story about a former news anchor turned Elvira-esque horror marathon hostess, who is forced to become her small town’s newest monster slayer… very much against her will! #CountCrowley #DavidDastmalchian #MonsterMovies #MonsterMovieMarathon #HorrorMarathon “Hellblazer: Dangerous Habits”: Cynical scumbag warlock/occult detective John Constantine is given a terminal cancer diagnosis, and sets out to make amends with the people he’s wronged, defeat the demons that would thrive without him, and hopefully save his own life. #Constantine #Hellblazer #JohnConstantine #DCcomics #DCvertigo “30 Days Of N by @aliasnicksmyth
Well I did vampires, so here’s my 16 Favorite Werewolf Movies I guess… (in order) Also… I feel like I made a mistake with titling it “movies”, as I list a book in this lol #Werewolves #Werewolf #Wolfman 16. The Boy Who Cried Werewolf: I only saw this once when I was 11 years old on tv, but I remember really liking this film. And I hear it holds up. #BoyWhoCriedWerewolf #BoyWhoCriedWolf #Nickelodeon 15. The Company Of Wolves: This INCREDIBLY stylized romantacy-horror about love, sex, & werewolves is a must-watch for any and all lovers of period romance… or theater kids (so check this out @lydiavengeance & @luciananightshade lol). #TheCompanyOfWolves #CompanyOfWolves #RedRidingHood 14. The Cursed: First off, it’s SUPER jarring to see the deeply southern Boyd Holbrook play a Victorian Englishman! Secondly… this underrated gothic body-horror has what is undoubtedly some of the SCARIEST werewolf transformations put to film! 13. Silver Bullet: Even if you didn’t grow up in a small town (much less in the 70s-80s), this adaptation of Stephen King’s “Cycle Of The Werewolf” just puts you in that vibe of this nostalgic look at 2 kids’ WEIRDEST year of their childhood. Plus, Gary Busy is great as the alcoholic uncle with a heart of gold! #StephenKing #CycleOfTheWerewolf #SilverBullet 12. Trick ‘r Treat: While it’s low on the list due to only one of the stories in this anthology film involving sorority-girl werewolves… this film is freaking DOPE! #TrickRTreat #Sam #TrickRTreatSam 11. Bad Moon: When a single mother and her young son invite her brother to live with them after a “mysterious animal attack” killed his wife, the family dog proves just how loyal, brave, and downright BADASS he is when he faces off against the ferocious monster living in the guest bedroom. #BadMoon 10. An American Werewolf In London: What can I say that so many others haven’t? This is one of the greatest/most iconic werewolf movies ever made! #AnAmericanWerewolfInLondon #AmericanWerewolfInLondon #WerewolvesOfLondon 9. Dog Soldiers: In this deliciously, awesomely batshit film, a group of British combat soldiers must hole up for the night in an abandoned house in the woods, with a pack of lyca by @aliasnicksmyth
Well it’s officially spooky season (my favorite season), and since I love making lists no one else cares about, I’d like to talk about my third favorite of the classic monsters (behind Jekyl/Hyde & the Headless Horseman)… vampires! Here are my Top 16 Vampire Stories to check out this Halloween! (In order) #Vampire #Vampires #VampireMovies #Halloween 16. What We Do In The Shadows: Funny, silly, and a great show to watch on the couch at night. Plus Matt Berry is hilarious! #WhatWeDoInTheShadows 15. Hellsing Ultimate Abridged: While it not perfect and the jokes can be a little TO in your face/edgy, it still hits me in the nostalgia of when I watched this internet “fan-based parody” as a teenager #HellsingAbridged 14. 30 Days Of Night: A grim & gritty survival horror about horde of savage vampires swarming an Alaskan town where the next sunrise won’t be till next month! #30DaysOfNight 13. Renfield: It’s Nicolas Cage as Dracula! What more can I say? #Renfield 12. Castlevania: An incredibly well made, thought provoking story on the human condition, with some AMAZING monologues! #Castlevania 11. I Am Legend (the book): This book has never been done justice. They’ve never even fully embraced WHY the title is called that. I usually HATE apocalypse stories, but this is such a fascinatingly bleak novel, I can’t help but love it. #IAmLegend 10. From Dusk Till Dawn: Love this stylized crime-thriller turned Grindhouse creature feature! #FromDuskTillDawn 9. Dr. Strange vs Dracula: The Montesi Formula: Man… mid-70s to early-80s Marvel is the best. It’s the perfect blend of really realistic, well-written characters, and INCREDIBLY outlandish concepts/stories. Also, everyone forgets Dracula is one of Marvel’s BIGGEST supervillains lol #DrStrange #MidnightSons #MarvelBlade 8. The Last Voyage Of The Demeter: Imagine the movie “Alien” on a shipping vessel in the late-1800s? It’s also got one of the most terrifying depictions of Dracula put to screen! #LastVoyageOfTheDemeter #Nosferatu 7. Sinners: Flick’s a little over a year old and is already going down as one of the greatest vampire movies ever made! #Sinners 6. Dracula (Netflix/BBC): While the final episode is so-so, t by @aliasnicksmyth

Turned 26, and the day before that my knees gave out while bending down… I’m afraid that’s a sign of things to come. Also I was intentionally doing for a tacky #Goodfellas look for my birthday dinner. I’d post pictures of the party, but I’ve recently become uncomfortable posting pics of family & friends anymore that’s not on a temporary story…. Anyway, I had a great birthday thanks to the amazing people in my life! And thanks to everyone else I love who couldn’t make it. by @aliasnicksmyth
