When we played the first @weplayforplanet at @thecastlemanc in the beginning of June.

@nicooolaj and @caitlinmounteer had just returned from being rockstars in North America and it turned out to be our last gig of the summer. I am very happy that our last gig of the summer was at the castle as this has been a venue I've wanted to play for so long after years of seeing bands play there.

This is part 1 of the great photos @alicekanako_ took of the evening

Shout out to @weplayforplanet you are great! by @alicekanako_

CROP MAG 002 ~ BIZ BOND

In Manchester’s bubbling spoken word scene, which proves ever more effervescent as you peel back the layers, Biz Bond sits at the very intersection of it all. She performs, hosts, and curates alongside her day-to-day writing, bringing to life her authentic experiences of city life. Through humour and gut-wrenching emotion, her magnetic performances and handcrafted poetry truly resonate. She reveals more about her inner workings in this year’s CROP Magazine.

Had some new press pics taken by @alicekanako_ and can’t get over how amazing they are 🥹

Was going to share them gradually as I announce new DJ sets, but I couldn’t resist sharing them all at once 💚

Highly recommend - get in touch with Alice if you need fresh pics taken! by @alicekanako_

Big ol thank you to @brightersound for the invite 💓 by @alicekanako_

Shots of @llkatherinelll performing an immersive retelling of Hong Kong’s WWll-era Nam Koo terrace ghost myth through a sonic ritual of bowls, rice and live electronics.

This was part of @brightersound x @eseacontemporary’s Here to Remember project, which featured 3 ESEA artists curated by @jasminkentrodgman 🖤 by @alicekanako_

The final edition to the lineup in this piece was @hanz.riddim of DOWNTEX MILL / @hiddenclubmcr

‘Josh’s “self-grown” ethos moves away from rigid scenes that have traditionally existed in Manchester past and recognises the power of collaboration in connecting communities.’

PARADISE WORKS / @tanithmab

Paradise Works, which stands on the Salford side of the river, is the home of the next artist I spoke with. I sat down with @tanithmab in their studio, where we talked about their beginnings, inspiration and Manchester mythologies.

@weoutherefest, you were so beaut! 🫶

I was pretty nervous for this one,
been a hot min since I’d done a talk focused radio show that was so personal

but putting in the research and writing up this script felt super special and helped me explore my transness and sense of belonging in Japan in a new but familiar way, guided by good ol music.

Listen back to my show on the @worldwide.fm web, and hear some amazing music by gender nonconforming Japanese artists intertwined with my memories 🌻

Big bigggg thanks to @crop.radio and the team producing the show 💓
