CLOVER IS ADOPTED. And we couldn’t be happier with how her story ends.

Honestly, we couldn’t have picked a better photo to share this news. Look at this girl. Comfortable, cozy, and right where she belongs.

Clover was found running stray on Clover Street in West Memphis, Arkansas, and ended up at the West Memphis Animal Shelter. She waited for weeks for someone to come looking for her or choose her, but no one did.

Thankfully, we happened to be volunteering at the shelter on a Thursday, met Clover, and got to work finding her a foster home ASAP.

And not just any foster home. The right foster home.

We knew Clover’s transition would take some patience, so we found her a home with a pack of confident large dogs, cats, chickens, and a kiddo. She had the perfect environment to build her confidence, learn to trust, and discover that the world could be a pretty wonderful place.

When it came time to find her forever home, we knew we needed a family who understood her. A family with another confident dog who could show her the ropes. A family who had recently lost their little dog and was ready to open their hearts and home again.

And we found them.

Clover now has two cats to cuddle with and a big dog who is already her very best friend. Her new home is everything we hoped we could find for her.

We may never know what Clover’s life looked like before she landed at the shelter. We don’t know where she came from or how she ended up alone on that street.

But we know what comes next.

A family who chose her. Friends to grow old with. A safe place to sleep. And a future that looks brighter than ever.

This is what rescue is about. Sometimes it’s showing up at a shelter on an ordinary Thursday. Sometimes it’s finding the right foster home. Sometimes it’s taking the time to understand what a dog needs instead of rushing her into just any home.

And sometimes, all those pieces come together, and you get a photo like this.

Congratulations, Clover. You deserve this! by @aliverescuememphis

Gigi had a blast today hanging out with @stacye.art & @moodematchacafe !!

I’ve got to give this girl an A+ for today as a foster parent. Taking her out for a social event after months of training with socializing is huge! A walk through the neighborhood/park vs having a dog in a social setting in a crowded area is a totally different element.

10/10 for sitting pretty for a treat
10/10 for being on a leash
10/10 for a calm demeanor on people and kids walking everywhere

Come by the next events coming up to meet Gigi, make some art & get some matcha! by @aliverescuememphis

Add some cuteness to your Sunday! And matcha, and art, and self care.... 😁 We've got a lot goin' on Sunday! Stop by Saddle Creek South! On the corner by Sephora, 12-4p by @aliverescuememphis

Eight short days with Polly, and we have learned SO much about this amazing girl.

This picture might look like nothing more than a dog sitting on a back porch, but to us, it represents something much bigger. It’s decompression. It’s learning that the world doesn’t have to be scary. It’s baby steps that are turning into mountains.

Polly came to us last Thursday in a kennel carried into a backyard. She was completely shut down and terrified of the entire world.
She may look scared in this photo, but what you can’t see is just how far she has come in eight days.

She spends at least a few hours outside every day with her foster human and canines and sleeps on a big, comfortable dog bed in her foster’s bedroom.

She’s still figuring things out, but we’re celebrating every little victory.

And here’s one that might not sound like much to most people, but to us, it’s HUGE.
It used to take 5 minutes to get Polly out of her kennel. Today, it took just 2.5 minutes.
FIVE MINUTES down to TWO AND A HALF.

That is progress. That is trust beginning to grow. That is a scared dog slowly learning that the world might not be such a terrible place after all.

We’re not rushing her. We’re letting her set the pace and giving her all the time she needs.
Because sometimes, the biggest victories look like nothing to anyone else.
But to Polly? To her foster? To those of us who know where she started?
Two and a half minutes is a f***ing mountain!!!!!!!!

We’re so proud of you, Polly. Keep going, girl. We’re right here with you. ❤️ by @aliverescuememphis

Anyone who follows our page knows we have a huge soft spot for feral dogs and helping them learn to trust the world again.

Today, meet Polly. ❤️

Polly is 8 years old and came to us from a hoarding case involving more than 130 Chihuahuas. She was the only large dog on the property and was left alone in a shed outside. We have no idea how long she was there, but it’s clear that Polly is deeply traumatized.

She may look terrified in this photo, but please understand that this is SO much better than when she first arrived.

Polly is frightened of just about everything. Sometimes she wedges herself into a kennel or corner and refuses to move. At 70 pounds, helping her navigate those fears is a challenge, but we’re working on it.

And here’s the beautiful part: in just FOUR days, Polly has made progress! She’s met the three dogs in her foster home and is doing wonderfully with them. Their confidence seems to bring her comfort. She sleeps peacefully on a dog bed in her foster parents’ bedroom all night, and once we get her moving, she starts to find her way.

Rehabilitating dogs like Polly takes the right foster, patience, and a willingness to let the dog set the pace. We’re so grateful Polly has someone who understands that. We’ve seen what is possible with these dogs, and we’re excited to watch her journey unfold.

Can you help us care for Polly and our two other new intakes?
Donations are so appreciated!

We promised you an update on our ARC newbies, so here we go!

First up, meet Oscar. Our 14-year-old Oscar the Grouch.
Oscar came to us from a hoarding situation alongside 11 other senior Chihuahuas, all of whom were placed with other rescue groups. We’re so grateful we were able to bring this little guy into the ALIVE Rescue Memphis family.
And yes, he’s living up to his name.

Oscar has a little spice to him, and at 14 years old, he’s earned the right to be a little grouchy about a thing or two. But underneath that big personality is a senior boy who needs time, patience, and the chance to figure out what it feels like to finally be safe.

We found Oscar the most wonderful foster home, where patience is the name of the game. Right now, he’s decompressing in his foster mom’s master bedroom, with cameras allowing us to keep an eye on him and celebrate every bit of progress he makes. There’s no rushing Oscar. He gets to move at his own pace, on his own terms, with someone who understands that trust takes time.

Oscar also has some significant medical needs. He has a grade 4 heart murmur and will need a dental and to be neutered. We have some work ahead of us to figure out what he needs medically and how best to care for him before we can even begin to consider adoption.

But that’s what rescue is.
It’s showing up for the dogs who need a little extra help. It’s making room for the seniors, the complicated cases, and the ones who might need more time than most. It’s giving a 14-year-old Chihuahua the same chance at comfort, care, and a better life that we believe every dog deserves.

We don’t know exactly what Oscar’s journey will look like yet, but we know he’s in good hands. And we’re going to be right here cheering him on every step of the way.
Welcome to ALIVE, Oscar! by @aliverescuememphis
