Had to take a mental health break over this past weekend. Fourth of July has always had an undertone of ‘frivado’ if I may create a word between frivolous and bravado. Yes, the fireworks are absolutely fabulous and marvelous but the history is uneasy. It reminds me of being in a fellow colonial power country watching the fireworks of Bastille Day at la Tour D’ Eiffel after having spent 8 months studying abroad in Senegal. The French fireworks were beautifully coordinated to the tunes of Porgy and Bess - which speaks to my Southern African American history. Senegal has been my first trip to the ‘Motherland’ and I couldn’t help but miss it sorely as I sat back in the West drinking wine and celebrating a White only Freedom... this word will make you go crazy if you think about it too hard - so hear is to my Blackity Black Pan African Health!!! by @alkebulan_intelligence

#BlackSafeSpaces Quote: @janayathefuture by @alkebulan_intelligence

Red is the color of the first Chakra. The Sanskrit name of the red Root chakra is Muladhara, from the words Mula, which means “root” and Dhara, which means “support.” This energy center is associated with survival, competitiveness, safety, and fear. It is considered the center of manifestation and represents the densest level of reality. We use red to represent, “You too belong here.”•

We work to create space for crucial and restorative conversations. For progressive conversations to happen we need #AUTHENTICALLIES who are willing to hear what personally matters to their Black peers, coworkers, life partners and friends. Best place to start with a conversation is non violently share space and get curious. 🌿✊🏾♥️✖️🔒 ⬛️🌿🌿

BlackSafeSpaces | ✊🏾❤️✖️🔒 ⬛️ My people, what matters to you in #BlackSafeSpaces? by @alkebulan_intelligence

Watched an inspiring IG live by @janayathefuture on this beautiful anomaly of a cloudy Los Angeles Sunday. Black Safe Spaces dares to imagine a future where all people can show up in the world unhindered by mainstream/cisgendered/White perceptions and assumptions. Our survey results so far show that Black and African American identified are hurt, shutdown, exhausted, apologetic even when engaging in conversations about race with allies and non allies. Our mission is to steward spaces and foster conversations where people are fully seen, fully heard, and get to show up in the world just as they truly are at home. #weBelong #blacksafespaces by @alkebulan_intelligence

Join us in designing spaces that cultivate the kinds of conversation brings safety and transcendence to Black voices, minds, and imaginations. Survey link in bio. by @alkebulan_intelligence

We seek to expose the silence that cloaks racism and oppressive systems. We amplify conversations and encourage our society-at-large to break through discomfort and alienation when discussing unbalanced privilege in our country. 🔁 @giwlo by @alkebulan_intelligence
