Feeling especially thankful this Thanksgiving for small, intentional businesses like @allburnwax, the kind of places that make holiday shopping actually mean something. 🕯️🤍

Diana hand-pours all her candles, her husband pours the concrete vessels, and her shelves are filled with gifts from AAPI, Queer, and BIPOC-owned makers. Shopping here feels like you’re supporting a whole community because you truly are.

This holiday season let’s think about where our money goes. Let’s uplift the people who pour their hearts, hands, and creativity into every product. Local just hits different.

Every purchase here supports local artists and keeps our community thriving.

Spent over an hour inside All Burn Wax, the cutest candle and gift shop right across from Powell’s Books. Jewelry, pottery, prints, plants, stickers, you name it. Everything is handmade and full of character. I left with a few gifts and a sage and rosemary candle that smells like pure holiday magic. Such a warm and welcoming vibe, the kind of spot I’ll keep coming back to.

I went to the cutest candle & gift shop @allburnwax and it is such a gem!

Diana opened almost 2 years ago and hand pours every single candle. She carries 40+ vendors 35 of which are local BIPOC artisans.

Definitely check out her amazing shop and you can check out so many businesses nearby!

Generational trauma, Scholastic Book Fairs, and a lifelong appreciation for Air Force One. Somehow, this turned into a candle and gift shop in downtown Portland, Oregon.

Anyways, please shop local and small.

I’ll stick to showers.

At All Burn Wax, we carry locally made bath and body products, handcrafted candles, and unique artisan gifts. My brain, however, has other interests.

As promised, haunted bathtub citations:

1. The Read House — Chattanooga, Tennessee
Room 311 is allegedly haunted by a woman murdered in the bathtub in 1927. Guests have reported mysterious running water and ghostly encounters.

2. Addy-Sea Inn — Bethany Beach, Delaware
Guests have reportedly experienced violently shaking bathtubs accompanied by mysterious organ music. Naturally.

3. Emily Morgan Hotel — San Antonio, Texas
A hotel employee reportedly discovered her bathtub mysteriously filled with blue water.

Anyway, shop local and small. Thanks!

Nothing says Halloween like a $17 clearance Ouija board, a little light trespassing into the supernatural, and potentially cursing someone’s house.

Somewhere out there, a portal to hell may still be open. My bad.

Happy Halloween! 🎃👻

I’ve been a fan of Sir Patrick Stewart since childhood. Through his work, he opened up a world of curiosity, imagination, and endless possibilities for me.

Rest in peace, Sir Patrick Stewart. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans everywhere.

You shall be missed. 🖖

I tried to give inspirational advice about riding the waves of small business ownership. Unfortunately, I might cause a light drowning and make things awkward. 🏄‍♀️

On a more successful note, two local AAPI-owned Portland small businesses teamed up to create something lovely. 🍵

All Burn Wax x @makomatchamill — an exclusive, small-batch collection of hand-poured, tea-inspired candles celebrating matcha, tea culture, and local makers.

Available exclusively at Mako Matcha Mill!

Shop local. Shop small. And maybe don’t take surfing advice from me.

Some childhood influences explain more than others. Unfortunately. 😂

While most of our shop features local artisans, we also carry a few makers from elsewhere because their work is just too funny not to share.

A questionable sense of humor is apparently part of our buying criteria.

Shoutout to some of the wonderfully creative makers you’ll find at our shop:

Some of my favorite people also happen to make some of my favorite things. ❤️

One of the best parts of owning a small gift shop in downtown Portland is getting to work with incredibly talented local artists and makers. Even better when they’re your friends!

🍬 @edible_art_by_natsuko — Beautiful Japanese crystal candies that pair perfectly with tea.

🏺 @alderandbonestudio — Gorgeous handcrafted ceramic trinket dishes.

🌱 @larsocam — Creative 3D-printed planters and gifts made with plant-based PLA.

We’re proud to feature 44 local artisans at All Burn Wax, from handmade ceramics and candles to unique gifts, art, and more.

Come discover some amazing Portland makers and support independent small businesses!
