Pro tip… Before you decide your outfit is boring, change the shoe.

Seriously. You might not need a different top or another layer. You might just need to stop reaching for the same shoe every time.

And those fun shoes you bought but never wear because you “don’t have an outfit”? Try them with something simple. Let them do their thing. by @maggietateharris

“I thought I was just going to get a few new outfits.”

Hearing Julia describe what she actually took away from this experience means so much to me. 🤍

She had a vision for her wardrobe. The outfits she’d saved, the feeling she wanted, the way she hoped to show up.

Through our sessions, she got to explore that vision on her own body. She tried combinations she wouldn’t have chosen alone, discovered details she loved, and learned more about what made an outfit feel right for her.

And yes, we had a lot of fun doing it.

Morgan told me she felt like she was drowning her personality with her clothes. She told me she felt “kiddish” and wanted to look more mature. But mature doesn’t always mean a blazer and trousers. The thing is most of these pieces were from her original wardrobe. Meaning, she didn’t need a louder wardrobe. She needed a more intentional one.

Throughout the Alora Method, we uncovered the colors, proportions and styling choices that allowed more of her personality to come through. We traded some of the automatic black for chocolate brown, brought in warmer and clearer colors, opened her necklines, refined where her tops ended and used wider leg silhouettes to create the balance she had been missing.

But the biggest shift happened when we stopped treating each piece as the entire outfit.

A simple base became the foundation for an intentional layer, an unexpected accessory or one detail that made the outfit feel completely like Morgan.Her wardrobe can still feel fun, feminine and full of personality. Now, it also feels elevated, versatile and intentional.

That is the Alora Shift.

A good outfit still has to work on camera.

How does the fabric sit when you’re seated? Where does the necklace fall? Does the look feel like you, or are you spending the whole time adjusting it?

That’s what I’m watching for on set. The looks are planned beforehand, but my job doesn’t stop once everyone is dressed.

The part Julia didn’t expect? How much she would learn. 🤍

She came into the process expecting new outfits. Along the way, she started noticing how a neckline changed her proportions, why petite and short sizing weren’t interchangeable, and what to look for when shopping for herself.

Those are decisions she gets to keep making long after our sessions end.

I love putting together a look that makes a client light up. Hearing her explain WHY something works on her? That’s another kind of excitement entirely.
