Three Word Phrase: There's an artist named Ryan Pequin who made a series of comics that were a heavy influence on me. Ryan Pequin was recently banned from Twitter and in order to commemorate the occasion I made this in his honor and in his style. I've been reading his stuff for years but I had to go through all his comics last night to make sure I wasn't ripping him off like I rip off The Simpsons all the time without noticing. If I ever meet the man I'm going to ask him something I've always wanted to know. Is it pronounced Pee-Quinn or Peh-Kin. I gots tah know! #comic #art #drawing #illustration #threewordphrase #ryanpequin #regularshow #birb #becauseofreasons #dream #fighting #presidentbird #jorts by @alvarez0kelvin

The Dolphin: There was a news report once about people who would wake up in the middle of surgery, but remain unable to move. They would feel everything because only the thing that put you to sleep would wear off and they'd have to lay there paralyzed as someone nonchalantly cut their body. They made a really mediocre movie about it with that guy from Star Wars. That always stuck with me and it's a large reason why I've avoided the penis reduction surgery. I guess that's my cross to bear, but I refuse to suffer in silence. Can't even hang dong in peace :(

@amypoehler is LIT-trally one of my favorite people! Probably top five comedy influences for sure. I'm not really into stand up comedians but I've always enjoyed sketch and improv styles of comedy. Not that I'm funny or anything. I'm doing back half SNL sketches right now. You know the ones that people applaud because it looks like the performers are having fun? Yeah, those. I'm working on being funnier. I know I'm usually giving a Gilly but I promise to give you guys a Dick in the Box in the future. #art #drawing #sketch #illustration #digitalart #comic #comicstrip #polarbear #banking #comedy #cartoon #absurd #sliceoflife by @alvarez0kelvin

The Amazing Grace: what up big dawgs! Arf! Arf! I'm back! Nah, I'm just playing. Could you imagine? Anywhooo, I'm focusing more on writing a larger story so I'm not posting as much so when I do post I would like it to be something of quality to bring some levity. I'm getting back to my leap day story and I have a few other things I'll post in the meantime so don't fret. I always take care of the Dawg Pound. Whom shall I fear?
I grew up in a public housing project called the Imperial Courts in watts. The area had a large police presence due to rival gangs living within feet of each other. Seeing ignorance and violence every day there was common. Dog fights, drug dealing, assaults, casual abuse of social norms people take for granted. I was home with my sister who was 7 one time when I heard loud banging at my door. I open the door and see north of 10 police outside yelling at me to get out. Having never done anything wrong in my life I didn't think anything of it. They handcuff me and start dragging me to the sidewalk I don't want anything to happen to my sister so I yell out "there's a fucking kid in the home!" so they drag me in and lay me on my stomach still cuffed with my sister crying her eyes out not understanding what's happening. They ask me all these questions about someone I didn't know and hadn't met, they keep accusing me of lying as the went through every room in my home. They went to the wrong house, of course. They didn't say they were sorry, they didn't even have a warrant because I let them in. When I told the officer in charge to admit he made a mistake he told me to "go cry about it to someone who cares." Anyway, I really appreciate everyone that's out there right now. To say nothing is disingenuous. Seeing people dip their toes in the water that others struggle to keep their heads above means a lot. You are appreciated. #art #drawing #illustration #blackandwhite by @alvarez0kelvin

Leap Day: this is a recording of a handful of hours I got to spend with my sister the day after her birthday. As of this writing I haven't seen her in person because two weeks later stay at home orders were announced. This is ACTUALLY me. There will be no zaniness or hulabaloo no tomfoolery nor any madcappery. This was really difficult and I hope the bulk of what I wanted to get across goes through. I try to treat myself for my birthday by challenging myself and this was tough. Since this is ongoing I'll have more to say in future comics. #art #drawing #illustration #comic #comicstrip #losangeles by @alvarez0kelvin
