I wish I could capture how yummy and rich this color is. Also very pleased with the affordability and quality of cascade 220. The #bindoffsweater is really fun to knit once you have the pattern repeat down. It was a bit slow because I had to pay attention to tracking holes and decreases at the same time. It was my first bottom up sweater and I would have made the body a bit longer but I was #scared and #impatient

Overall would definitely make again, maybe in a brighter less grungy color 🖤

My favorite colors and textures as a baseball jersey. I want more Ritas!!! I love it in stripes for more of a nod to baseball. Definitely the sexiest uniform in sports. I’m team knee length pants 🤭

I interfaced the lace with silk organza. Was a bit tedious to sew but worth it, obviously. I did snag the lace on the feed dogs and it ripped a small hole in the sleeve :( it’s not noticeable and still structurally sound, I hope. Just to say it’s not perfect and shit happens 😚

I’ve been sewing slooowwllyy because I prefer to sit on the couch and knit lately 🤷‍♀️

But these overalls scratch an ITCH I’ve been having for railroad stripe denim!! They’re super comfortable and I think they strike a nice balance between baggy/cool and fitted in the right places. You can achieve a pretty tight fit on the bum if that’s what you prefer (no thx 4 me). My toile gave me a killer wedgie so I had to scoop out some more room in the butt curve. The instructions do note these pants were drafted for a flat seat.

It’s been a sock knitting summer. I’ve been focusing on creating dense fabric and socks that actually fit. I took a break from a tight gauge because this pattern looked fun. This is my first knitted colorwork and first afterthought (technically forethought) heel. Despite using some tutorials for the heel to eliminate gaps, I had to close them a bit more while weaving in the ends. Overall, forethought heel wasn’t as scary as I thought!! I also tried the German twisted cast on which I’ll probably continue using for all of my socks.

Tomorrow I’ll be 27. I love getting older. I think more and more about all that came before me and how to spend my precious time going forward. I usually make a challenging garment for my birthday but this year I was tired. The #soligdress was a fab option for making something meaningful and pretty but not stressing about fit or difficult technical bits.

I have quite the project queue, mostly garments or projects for others. I needed something to motivate me to spend more time at my sewing machine. I didn’t want to buy anything either. I used mystery denim(?) from my stash and patched the knee fronts from my favorite scraps. I doubled brown thread for topstitching. Piecing these and topstitching was really joyful and I feel like I usually dread topstitching. Its just a really cool pattern 🤷🏻‍♀️ Feeling excited to sew again.

Size: 4 with no adjustments. Could size down but I like the room. I will lower the rise next round !!

Going through some stuff and finding real comfort in knitting lately. I could go on but I’m preaching to the choir here ❤️ Here’s my #olgajacket in red orange and grey stripes. I think it’s perfect.

Knit a size small in peer gynt poppy (4008) and gray beige heather (2650)

First knitted sweater. Turned out way bigger than I meant. Sneaky gauge issue perhaps orrr I blocked a little carelessly </3 Proud of my sweater anyway because it’s warm and pretty. I learned a lot. I struggled with rib tension on the hem so experimented with a half twisted rib on the sleeve cuffs and actually don’t really like it lol. It looks *too* neat. Also not sure that I care much for Italian bind off…. Much to learn and think about 💭

I love making all our clothes and sharing them :’)

Really obsessed with this print but I DO NOT LIKE sewing with teddy fleece or Sherpa!! Its just not fun and makes a mess. Seam allowance is almost impossible to gauge. I trimmed the fluff off all the edges of my pattern pieces at an angle to reduce bulk and try to get a more accurate seam allowance. Again….. not fun

Im satisfied with the pattern itself but not the designer’s sizing chart. A 43” chest falls under a 4XL?? Happy with our jacket but throwing my money at other designers until that’s figured out

I was playing some risky pattern Tetris so I didn’t get to lengthen the body enough. Martín still wears it happily but he doesn’t get to cinch the hem at all. I love a varsity crop moment…

Ive always wanted to sew a wool coat. I had this fabric for over a year but was too scared to cut into it because coating is precious and pricey. This fabric was also sacred for other sad reasons..

I feel like my technical skills are in a good place so I went for it over my winter break. I was between a couple patterns but decided to go for simplest oversized silhouette (didn’t wanna fuck up and wanted to use all the fabric). Enter Tessuti Richmond. I actually found the pattern itself easy to follow, although they use images rather than illustrations.

After wearing for a couple of months, I love it for its wearability and the length. My only issue is that I feel like the shoulders pull back and then the collar sorta flips up. I don’t like this lol. Maybe this can be fixed somewhere along the sewing / pressing process?

Handsewn buttonholes were also a flop. I wish I did bound buttonholes before attaching the lining! Now I know! I’ll go get them professionally fixed at some point but I mostly wear it open.

My sweetie and I eloped earlier this year. We’re not really into all the traditional wedding stuff. Or maybe we are? But funds are tight and spending thousands on a party just doesn’t feel right… or possible. We’re still working through the logistics of what our celebration would look like. Covid testing at the door? Potluck style dinner??

Anyways we celebrate in other ways. I planned a “proposal” to surprise him with his ring. I wanted a forever garment (or as close as can be) and I figured flannels are pretty durable. The #roseraglan is also a perfect choice for durability because the flat felled finishes are built to LAST. I embroidered a sweet note inside and hid the ring in the pocket. 😘

Fabric: cotton flannel from Joann rip
Size: F, lengthened 1 inch and made the hem curve less dramatic
Notes: flat felled seams were a little tough in the flannel but worth itttt by @alyxmade

$Im kind of a @_domum super fan. Every pattern I’ve made from them has been so fun and unique. I tested the updated version of the Netta and I feel cool as heck in these pants. I want a version in light gabardine so that pleat drape is more dramatic. I will say the side pocket button placement is important. I think I need to readjust one side that keeps slipping open. The good thing is the other side never opens😇 Size: 36 with a flat seat adjustment by cutting thru crotch to hip and hinging down 3/8” and shaved 3/8” off back crotch at inseam. I took out 1/2” from volume of each leg but Margaux has trimmed them slightly since testing feedback. Fabric: 10oz mason chino twill from @fabricwholesaledirect Personally I like this fabric and have used it for 4 different pairs of pants. It’s affordable (!!) with good feel and weight. Color durability is questionable but I overwash my pants I think. Only warning: no layers included in pattern <\3 pattern designer is aware and needs a new software to implement layers #nettadomum by @alyxmade$
