We tell pregnant and postpartum women “don’t sit up, coning and doming will wreck your core and you’ll have diastasis FORRRREEVVVEERR!” And yet…. Men, women who have never had a baby, and even babies cone and dome all the time and we say NOTHING! Even applaud how strong their core is. And we’re not worried, nor do we see, diastasis be a fear or problem for those populations. Begs the question: Why are we blaming core for diastasis in pregnancy and postpartum when it’s a normal tissue lengthening in pregnancy? And why are we deconditioning our 🤰and postpartum people by scaring them out of core??? Make it make sense!?

ps: thank you to my amazing husband @boomchunk for allowing me to film his belly on slow mo up close lol by @amber_bauer_dpt

Layer 1: if you do 3-4 rounds of these (doing each one til your muscles are burning) and then go for a 1-2 mile or 15-30 min walk, you’ll have hit some great movement on the day
Layer 2: you add a toddler on your back, a baby in a carrier, BOTH, or a work backpack with your laptop and some books and suddenly you’re getting even stronger😍

Exercise does not need to be a 10 step process of when and how. by @amber_bauer_dpt

I’m not doggin the belly breathing, pelvic tilts, and bird dogs in the first few weeks postpartum! They’re great! AND - we have to move past them to help our body prepare for the demands we want to put on it. That’s where our high level coaching, cuing, programming, and communication is crucial for reaching your goals postpartum! DM us to chat about what YOU would like to do! by @amber_bauer_dpt

There’s a difference between a cut that you and your nutrition coach are intentionally (and smartly) doing, and being under fueled. I see this ALL THE TIME. And it’s slowing you down, putting you at higher risk of injury, and truthfully making life let alone fitness a lot less fun. If you’re fitnessing, you should be fueling. by @amber_bauer_dpt

🐾 Meet Amber, not just any OG, but THE OG! She’s at least 50% of the reason GLFC exists and for that we are forever thankful.

Heading into her 9th Open, she loves a good DB snatch, and is mentally preparing for the thrusters she knows are coming. She’s here to remind you: it’s just fun, not life or death. Veteran presence. Epic energy.

Oh, and also the owner of @rebuilt.physical.therapy, where the BEST PTs on the planet are. 💯
