Thought i’d do a little post to introduce ourselves!

As we are almost 3/4 of the way through our build journey🏠

I’m Marissa, this is my husband, Jack 👋🏽

This is our 2nd build 🛠️

We built our first little home in 2017, where we have learnt alot! What to do and what not to do on many of things 😆😆🍃(landscaping in particular). We started from scratch and learnt how much things can cost! (Swipe for when we could only afford a few lengths of decking for two chairs🤭). We waited for lots of things, lived without at times, and slowly chipped away at each project, it will be bittersweet to let our first little home go soon!

In 2025, we decided to build something a-bit bigger, and move on to a different style house, with the aim to get a pool to hopefully tire out our energetic 5yo💧 We will apply everything we learnt from our first build to avoid the same mistakes second time round (I’m sure there will be new mistakes 🤭 can already spot a few)

We were so lucky to get a 510m2 with ocean views this time around 🌊 we are going for a white, coastal, mediterranean vibe ~ think breeze-blocks, crushed stone, palms, olive trees, white cladding, lush plants 🍃 (swipe for some pinterest inspo💭)

Thanks to Jack being a roof carpenter ~ alot of our wishlist items Jack has been able to do himself! Our roof being one, adding skylights after the build, composite decking etc. It’s been a big positive to building again 🔨

I have loved documenting each step and chatting to others building around us, it has definitely kept me busy in a year that was otherwise a hard one to get through!

We are almost at the finish line! So far @newchoicehomes for us has been a great ride, we will keep the journey going as we move in and make the place feel like home🏠

Thanks for being here 🫶🏽

A delayed update on the decking ~ we’ve been so busy i’ve gotten a bit slack!

We’ve had the deck complete awhile now thanks to Jack and his boys (@jmicarpentryandconstruction)

Love the choice we went with after many months of being indecisive 🫠🥳
