Deosai. Magical place. See, I kept my promise. I promised myself I’d see the most beautiful places that ever existed on this earth. And if I had to do it alone, then alone it would be. So here I am. The cold is brutal. Freezing wind cutting across my face like razor blades, reminding me that I’m actually here. That this isn’t another place I’m passing through on a screen. There’s the smell of freshly bloomed flowers. Tall mountains standing in the distance, somehow looking like small hills—not because they’re small, but because the ground beneath them is so impossibly vast. Green fields stretching farther than I can see. Silence everywhere. And for a moment, I realize something. Maybe the promise was never really about seeing the most beautiful places on earth. Maybe it was about proving to myself that I could still go looking for something beautiful, even when I had to go looking alone. 15th August, 2026. Saw alot of marmots but yes, NEITHER DID I GET CLOSE TO THEM, NOR DID I TRY TO FEED THEM. Sheosar lake. A sheet of blue sitting quietly in the middle of all that green, with mountains watching from a distance. The wind moved across the water, the grass swayed around me, and everything felt strangely untouched. It was beautiful in a way that didn't ask for attention. It just existed. This habit of wearing shorts in freezing cold temperatures is gonna get me killed someday. Trying to absorb the energy radiating from everything around me. The mountains. The wind. The flowers. The silence. As if, for once, I could take some of that energy with me. Sadpara lake. Cold, still, almost unnaturally quiet. The mountains stood around it like they were guarding something I wasn’t supposed to understand. The water reflected the sky so perfectly that, for a moment, it was hard to tell where the earth ended and the sky began. Sheosar lake. by @ameem.jaffri
