AGENTS, MY SCI-FI ROMANCE IS OUT IN THE QUERYVERSE.

BOUND is a complete, 96,000-word adult sci-fi romance with speculative-thriller elements, slow-burn tension, forced proximity, and a psychic bond that was never supposed to become love.

Dual POV: Dr. Emma Evans, a telepathic Handler trained to control, and Reaper Six, the weapon who remembers he’s James Ward.

He was built to obey. She was trained to control.

Currently querying literary agents. Complete manuscript. Trilogy potential. High-stakes emotional conflict, morally complicated characters, and a romance where consent changes everything.

Agents seeking adult science fiction, science-fiction romance, speculative romance, or romantic suspense: BOUND may be your next read.

Writers, querying authors, and sci-fi romance readers: follow along for the journey. #AmQuerying #LiteraryAgents #SciFiRomance #ScienceFictionRomance by @ameliagracing

Not one but two author friends let me know they had good news about their queries! I’m so happy to hear from both of them because they have been working so hard and have been in the query trenches. It’s tough out there y’all. I really love how supportive this community is. When one of us makes it it means that our hard work is paying off. It means it can happen for us too. So share your good news, build your community and cheer each other on. Being an author is a lonely road, but it doesn’t need to be when so many of us are trying to make it too. We can do this together. We can support each other. Onward. #authorsoninstagram #authorsupportingauthors #authorlife #querytrenches by @ameliagracing

Starting a new book in October? Let’s finish a book by the end of 2026. 📖

There is no single “right” way to write a first draft. The best method is the one that gets the story out of your head and onto the page.

Here are 5 ways to approach your first draft:

1. The Daily Word Count
Set a realistic daily goal and keep showing up. 500 words a day is still 500 words closer to a finished manuscript.

2. The Time Block
Don’t worry about word count. Give yourself a dedicated block of writing time and see what you can accomplish.

3. The Weekend Warrior
Full-time job? Kids? Life being generally inconvenient? Reserve larger blocks of time on weekends and make those hours count.

4. The Scene-by-Scene Method
Instead of thinking about an entire novel, focus on the next scene. Know what needs to happen, write it, and move forward.

5. The Messy Draft
Write badly. Leave placeholders. Skip the scene that’s giving you trouble. Make notes to yourself. Keep moving.

Your first draft isn’t supposed to be beautiful.

It’s supposed to exist.

I’m starting a new novel this October, and I’m going to see how far I can take it before the end of the year.

If you’re starting one too, let’s get these books onto the page. 🖤📚

📌 Save this for your next writing session.

Looking for overused words in your manuscript?

Here’s a quick way to find them:

Mac (Pages or Word):
• Press ⌘ + F
• Search for a common word (like something, just, really, or looked)
• Click the search results to see every instance.

PC (Microsoft Word):
• Press Ctrl + F
• Type the word you want to check.
• Word highlights every occurrence so you can decide if it belongs.

My most overused word in a 90,000-word manuscript?

“Something.”

What’s yours?

Follow for writing tips, revision strategies, and the occasional reminder that every first draft has at least one word it refuses to stop using.

Do I get excited when I see I have a new email?
Yes. Do I absolutely forget when I email myself agents I think I need to query?
Very much yes. #querying #querytrenches #authorlife #writingprocess by @ameliagracing
