Oh how Jesus changed my life.

Before this week, there were so many parts of my life that not a single person knew about, and I was having trouble accepting that God had a purpose for all of the trials I went through. It started to get harder and harder to get up each day and love the life I was given. I was hitting all time lows, and I felt so ready to just give up. Whenever I was down, I just kept thinking, “just get to Puerto Rico” because I just knew God was going to do something good.

Then came the SPECIAL: over 20 hours, all of us Athletes pushed our bodies to the absolute limit. We suffered greatly, learning how to rely on Him in our suffering. When it was all over each of us took up a board and nails and carried it alone, reflecting on Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for us: the Cross. As it ended, I was stuck wondering how I was supposed to go back to a hard life without all of these amazing people alongside of me. But God wasn’t done speaking to my heart yet. My body was totally beaten down and the next day I collapsed in a church. I don’t remember much, but I do remember opening my eyes to see the entire group, heads bowed, praying over me. At the hospital, one of our athletic trainers came in with notecard after notecard filled with prayers and messages from everyone in our group. To say I was overwhelmed with this community’s love for me is an understatement. That night, our amazing athletic trainers stayed through the entire night holding me and praying with me and reminding me of God’s truths. Unlike during the SPECIAL, I had to endure this part alone, without my team and without the other athletes. But God truly showed me that no matter what I’m going through I will never be alone. He is with me, and He has given me such an amazing community both here in Puerto Rico and back at home to lean on when things get hard.

Thank you Jesus for this beautiful community of U.S. and Puertorricans, allowing me to become FULLY known and free from my past, and for bringing us together so perfectly. I truly believe every person on this trip was meant to be there and I am so grateful for all God did on the island.

Una Cosa 🤍🤍🤍 by @amethystjoseph

my sweet babies of Bugoba.

there’s truly nothing more beautiful than a child’s joy. Jesus says in Matthew 19, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

God didn’t need me to be here, yet He chose me to come and display His love to His little children. How blessed am I to get to know them this week and get a glimpse into their lives. These babies loved us, strangers in their country, as if we were family all along. Praise God that in Him, we are all united.

Sometimes I shared the Gospel through words and sport, and other times I just sang songs about Jesus to the little ones and held their hands and gave big hugs all the time. I shared my testimony and was overwhelmed by God’s providence when some of the older girls came to me saying they were going through the same things I had.

The God we serve is so good, how could we not share it with each other? How could we not love on his children? How could we not show others the same grace he showed us?

Not knowing if I will ever see these beautiful children again breaks my heart, but I know they are in the hands of our good, good, Father, who will never leave them alone.

this is your sign to GO!!

12 days in 2 mins — here’s a little video diary of my mission trip to Uganda last month ft. the song that was stuck in my head the whole trip.

I hope their smiles make you smile!

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭ by @amethystjoseph

For years I asked God why. Why did I get handed a childhood so full of things [i thought] I couldn’t bear. I thought there wasn’t a single person in this world who would ever truly understand.

And then, in a little village thousands of miles from home, I found people I’ve never related to more.

Children facing abuse and financial instability. Fending for themselves and their siblings while their parents worked. Babies carrying babies. Some with a parent dehabilitated with chronic disease. Others orphaned or trying to survive with the support of one living parent. Most depressed and lonely.

Most were surprised to learn that I, a girl born and raised in the U.S., experienced my own version of this.

“Why me?” I asked God, again and again.

To be an example. To show them the redeeming love and joy of the Lord.

And suddenly, I know I wouldn’t change a thing.

Because of what I went through, I get to be their mom or sister, “auntie” or “teacher” or whatever they need me to be. Someone to listen and show them there is a way out, and it’s Jesus.

I can’t bear to see them cry because I’ve cried those same tears. The tears of longing for someone to just see them. I came back so that they know someone truly sees them in this world, and loves them dearly.

When I left Uganda last March I knew I would return before the year was through. I had no way, no money, no missions organization. Just the faith that if that’s where God wanted me the money would come, and a promise that even if I found no one to go with me, I would go it alone.

𝑵𝒂𝒚𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒓𝒊 𝒏𝒛𝒆𝒌𝒌𝒂 𝒌𝒖𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂 𝑲𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒊 𝒘𝒂𝒎𝒖 𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆.

As I learn my favorite verse in different languages, I am in complete wonder of Gods work. He’s connected us so intricately to Himself and to each other, so much so I know it can’t be mere coincidence. I once was so incredibly lonely, and now I have family all over the world.

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Wolf Path Weekend ❤️❤️

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 is the verse that has followed me consistently this year, but also through putting on this event:

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
‭‭
Behind the scenes there was a lot of stress, a lot of believing the lies that I was the wrong person for the job, there was me just not feeling well physically all summer and struggling to keep up BUT there was God’s grace.

God continues to do big things here. A Èl sea todo la gloria.

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭

On the sidelines, encouraging the athletes, this was the verse I kept repeating to them. I quickly realized I needed to hear it too. My heart hurts in so many ways from this trip, for so many people and for my own situation. So many times I felt weak as a leader. I needed to be reminded it was never going to be me that did this work, but Him. Thank you Jesus for humbling me and showing me so much grace.

“Alégrense siempre en el Señor; otra vez les digo: ¡Alégrense! Que su gentileza sea conocida por todos. El Señor está cerca. No se inquieten por nada; más bien, en toda ocasión, con oración y ruego, presenten sus peticiones a Dios con acción de gracias. Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, guardará sus corazones y sus mentes en Cristo Jesús”
Filipenses 4:4-7.

Una Cosa 🤍 by @amethystjoseph

“Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ ‭ by @amethystjoseph
