Still admiring this studio like it’s my first time seeing it 💞

A little behind the scenes from my morning at WMTV 15 News! The Wisconsin State Capitol is making another appearance in my pictures, which is fitting because today’s reporting assignment is taking me right around the Capitol in Madison.

Can’t share too much about the story just yet, but that’s one of the things I enjoy about working in local TV news. Between spending time in the newsroom, heading out into the community, filming and talking to people, there’s always something different happening.

For now, a few pictures from the studio before getting back to work!

What would you rather see more of…behind the scenes in the news studio or what goes into reporting a story out in the field? by @amina_haniieva

A good day to chase a story ☀️ by @amina_haniieva

A little closer to the sidelines! 🏀🎤❤️

Tonight looked a little different at Wisconsin Badgers basketball!

I got the opportunity to shadow a sideline reporter for Big Ten Network during tonight’s game, and it was such a fun experience getting to see another side of live sports broadcasting.

I’ve been wanting to explore sideline reporting more this semester, so getting to watch how it all comes together firsthand was especially exciting.

Between my work with Wisconsin Athletics, my TV news internship and studying journalism at UW-Madison, I’ve been learning just how many different directions sports media and broadcast journalism can take you.

And while tonight was about observing, asking questions and learning…I’m definitely hoping to be on the reporting side of that microphone myself soon!

For now, just really excited to keep learning and getting more experience doing something I genuinely love.

Badgers fans, who’s ready for basketball season? ❤️🏀 by @amina_haniieva

Wisconsin Badgers season is officially underway ❤️🎥 Got my Wisconsin Athletics gear today, and I’m super excited to be back creating content around Badgers sports for my junior year while continuing my work at WMTV 15 News.

Between college athletics, sports media and local news, it’s shaping up to be a busy fall…

Which Wisconsin sport are you most excited to follow this season? by @amina_haniieva

Tomorrow closes out my summer at ABC7, but definitely not the momentum that came with it.

I’ll save the reflection for later. Today, I’m just excited for one more day in the newsroom 💞

The heels survived the summer🤗

The people made the long days, early mornings and everything in between so much better 💞💞💞

🎥🎥🎥

And since we’re almost at the end of the summer, I guess the secret can finally come out…

This is what the hair actually looked like on the way to work every morning 💃

A lot of this summer was spent exactly like this: mic in hand, heading wherever the story took us 🎤

A little look at what reporting looked like this morning 🎤🍂 Early shift, early drive and one of those Wisconsin mornings that makes waking up at 5:30 feel worth it. The leaves are starting to change, everything looked so pretty and I got to spend the morning out in the community shooting, interviewing and putting the story together. Definitely one of those days that reminded me how much I love being out in the field.

What part of reporting would you want to see more of… interviews, shooting, writing or editing? by @amina_haniieva

At this point, Saturday studio pictures are becoming a tradition…

But before the pictures, there was reporting to do!
This morning, I was out covering voting machine testing in Madison ahead of the November election. With Election Day getting closer, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes to prepare, including things most voters probably don’t think about until it’s time to cast their ballots.

One of my favorite parts of working in local news at NBC15 is getting to learn about these processes firsthand and share what they mean for our community.

Keep an eye on NBC15’s evening news for more on today’s story!

Have you ever wondered how voting machines are tested before an election?

One of my favorite parts of reporting is getting to see community events from a completely different side. Instead of just being there and taking everything in, you’re paying attention to the little moments, talking to people, hearing why they showed up and trying to understand what the event means to the people who are actually part of it.

Being behind the camera changes the way you notice things. You start seeing the volunteers, families, organizers and all the small pieces that bring a community together. I really loved getting to experience that side of it and capture some of those moments along the way. 🎥🎤 by @amina_haniieva

A familiar place, just from a different perspective today 🏈🎤 Spent the Badgers vs. Eastern Michigan game shadowing a reporter and getting a closer look at what covering Wisconsin football looks like from the local news side. I’ve spent plenty of time around Badgers Athletics, but getting to experience game day through reporting made it feel completely different. Always grateful for another chance to learn in the field. by @amina_haniieva

A little Halloween reporting around Madison today! 🎃🍂

Spent part of my Saturday out in local neighborhoods covering trick-or-treating for NBC WMTV 15 News, and I think one of my favorite parts of this job will always be getting to meet people in the community.

From the decorated houses to families getting ready for Halloween night, it was so much fun seeing how much effort people put into making the holiday special. And of course, getting to stop and talk to residents about their traditions and celebrations made it even better!

Something I’ve really come to appreciate throughout my TV news internship is that even the simplest assignments can turn into some of the most enjoyable experiences. You never quite know who you’re going to meet or what stories people will share with you.

After spending some time out in the neighborhoods, it was back to the newsroom to get everything ready for our broadcasts. And apparently, taking pictures in front of the WMTV sign has officially become my Saturday tradition. 🤍🎥

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Halloween! 👻

I’m curious…what’s Halloween like in your neighborhood? Do you get lots of trick-or-treaters, or has it gotten quieter over the years? by @amina_haniieva

Friday Night Lights 🏈🎥 Out covering high school football tonight and getting another night of sports reporting in. One of my favorite ways to spend a Friday! by @amina_haniieva

3 a.m. wake-up call for back-to-school coverage 🚌☀️ Started our morning with the buses rolling out for the day. Wishing everyone heading back to school today the best first day!! 📚💚 by @amina_haniieva
