🏍️ What does Beta have to do with MAICO?

In MAICO’s centenary year, an EU trademark registration adds an interesting chapter to the story.

🔎 Betamotor S.p.A., the company behind Beta motorcycles, is the registered owner of the figurative EU trademark “MAICO M” for motorcycles and related parts. Filed on 22 July 2025, it was registered on 26 March 2026.

What does Betamotor intend to do with the trademark? AMZ Racing has asked the company for comment. The registration itself does not announce a new motorcycle.

Also in the file: BMW filed an opposition in November 2025 and later withdrew it. We have asked BMW for comment on the proceedings, too.

🏁 Our connection with MAICO goes back to 1970. We have brought together the history, the older trademark rights and the new registration in one detailed article — with direct links to the official records so you can check the sources yourself.

This 🇩🇪German two-stroke monster with more than 760 cc was ridden by my grandfather ✝️Jürgen Zimmermann🕊️when he was already over 70 years old. 💪

The Maico 760 cc is a legend. Only a few are still alive – but they are. Built for the Six Days ISDT, it was made to dominate the over 750 cc class. 🏁🔥

He proved that age is just a number when your heart beats for motorcycles. 🏍️❤️
And you? What will you be doing at 70? 👊

👉 Do you have the balls to ride this bike? Write it in the comments 🔥

Ein Stück Automobilgeschichte mitten in Ladenburg. 🏁

Maico RS 125 (1975) — #118 🏁
Spotted at Technik Museum Sinsheim | Speyer 📍🇩🇪
With reverence for pure privateer engineering: a 123 cc single-cylinder two-stroke (~13 hp) that a young Manfred Herweh prepared himself. On this very bike he scored his first hill-climb and circuit wins in 1975–76. Slim forks, drum brakes, Enuma chain, red tank — lightweight grit and go.
If you’ve got photos or stories from Herweh’s early days, drop them below or DM us. We’d love to feature them. 🔧📸
