What a full amazing world wind of a week!
So much good!

✍🏼 Got to bring my Mom to the Las Vegas Books Festival and met up with poet @dslattspoetry from my cohort at @unr_lowresmfacw. I had the privilege of introducing both my Mom and Dave to some of the amazing writers and editors and orgs in the local lit scene.

Later that night, I saw @switchfoot in concert with @kreativelykimmmisoo. Switchfoot has been my favorite band since I was 11 years old. They released their 14th album this summer and I'm proud to say I've been a loyal fan since I first heard "This is your life" on the radio and started taking them in my disc walkman everywhere I went.

🎸 This band helped me become the person I am today. They are still making amazing music that speaks truth in such a refined and assertive way. This particular concert was incredibly magical. My first concert ever was Switchfoot at the House of Blues for the Nothing is Sound album. I was probably 14 or 15 and my Mom took me. I've seen them a lot since then but I'll always remember that time and this.

🎧 The day before, the album review I wrote on "Tacho's Muchacho" by local artist, @figgylv came out in print in the 13th issue of @devoidmagazine . I am super passionate about the truth that is expressed in Figgy's newest album and am honored and thrilled that I got to write about it in Las Vegas's best culture and arts magazine! (Also thanks to my besties for coming out to celebrate with me!)

I'm so grateful to be a part of this local creative community. Grateful to have friendships and connections with so many passionate creators, not just locally.

Thankful that I'm still becoming. And that it is already happening. ✨✨✨ by @ana.earthchild

"Coming Home"

Began. 2014. Transformed. 2021. Completed. ????

Oil

This painting represents the transformation I experienced over the past two years:

From confusion to clarity.
From constant self-doubt to resilient confidence.
From deep despair to incredible infinite joy.

A coming Home to the whole being that is me.
Coming home to my truth, my voice.
Coming home to my beloved but often misunderstood Las Vegas Valley.

I'll be making prints soon. Lmk if you want one.

Dear Grandpa,

It's now been 11 years since you left us, over a decade ago. The longing in my heart to walk and talk with you remains a pang of overwhelming emotion in quiet moments.
I still miss you so much and I know I always will.
But I also feel you with me every day and I know you would never leave me.
I love you Grandpa. I know you are proud of me. And I know you understand my struggles. You were always so empathic while being steadfastly intellectual.

Thanks for always being there for me in your steady quiet way. Even as you are now.

Love,
Ana by @ana.earthchild

Nothing feels better than a regulated nervous system! Here's to healing! 🥂

Doctor ordered that O2 for when I sleep. Shout-out to the office staff, Dr. Stewart and all the practitioners at Pulmonary Associates for being amazing, always answering the phone and getting sh*t done!! You are a shark among fish!

After almost a year of appointments and specialists and waiting and waiting, you guys got something going in less than a month after my 1st appointment.

I'm so so grateful. 🥹

My walkman that I had when I was like 8 years old (on the right) and this one I got from Amazon (because the 26 year old walkman doesn't work anymore lol).

Been collecting cassettes. Old and new. I like the sound.

These are the analog days. Is it millennial nostalgia or something more? by @ana.earthchild

I'm down a total of 38 pounds as of today since I quit teaching and got off psych meds!!

I still have plenty of issues but I'm more and more myself everyday. It's great to feel alive again.

I only have 9 more pounds to get to my goal weight! (the weight I was in 2022)
