2024 Samba Queen Colorado Comp 💃🏾💎

My first time performing a solo as well as competing in the Samba dance style after training for a few months with @kebrinajosefinadejesus and @sambacolorado beforehand. Immensely proud of myself for pushing through although legs were ready to collapse, and I was slowly burning myself out from having stage fright. Never performed a solo before, nevermind for a dance style I was taught in a few months. Mind over matter completely went out the window 😬😅. Thank you to @_jnjphotography_ for capturing shots of my solo and bravery when I had none of my personal supporters to cheer me on, and thank you to the strangers in the crowd for powering my confidence and strength. A memorable day for sure… especially for the intense pain skyrocketing in my feet haha 👠.

My Samba journey was an inspiring one. So very grateful to be able to meet and spend personal time with icons and legends @cleodance and @silvestre1414 .Going from being taught to slowly teaching others was a blessing, a boost of confidence, and an elevation. Through Samba, just like other dance styles, you learn discipline, intention, and patience. Especially because, UNLIKE other dance styles, samba has a plenitude of subcategories within. Dancing with Samba Colorado was a beautiful, welcoming, and understanding family that I got to be part of. Thank you to my mentor @kebrinajosefinadejesus and to my samba family @sambacolorado I love you all 🧡

As a neurodivergent surrounded by neurotypicals, the world gets challenging.

Ms. Kimberly, designer of @mydefywear, takes invisible obstacles into consideration when she partakes in a theme for the disabled.
I will always appreciate her and her kindness. She is such a thoughtful person with a beautiful soul. If I had the option to walk for her line again, I would. She is amazing and very welcoming.
Walking for her meant a lot to me seeing as I could feel seen when my problems aren’t visible to the naked eye. Forever gracious of her pure hearted soul. 🔻

Next time you see someone out an about, try not to judge a book by its cover. Not by a visible disability, an invisible disability, or no disability at all. We all have to experience life. Don’t make it harder for others. ❤️

Beautiful Black People ☀️🌑

Our skins absorb the sun’s rays and our hair defies gravity. You can’t tell me we are not magical. 🔮🪬🧿
