hi!! i’m andrea 👋
determined to live every day with childlike wonder.
👩🏻‍💻 feel stuck? i wrote a book for you:
📖 what if you just did it anyway?

POSTS STORIES REELS

pls tell me im not alone in this lol

i’m not even kidding tho. if you mention a problem, a business idea, or even just a thought about doing something new, I WILL somehow procure a pen and paper to take notes and make a plan. idk where this comes from. by @andrealiriowrites

in case you’ve been wondering what a “professionally trained hoop jumper” actually means …

it’s not someone who lacks ambition. it’s someone who got so good at the game they started mistaking the game for the point.

give me a rubric, a checklist, a gold star system? incredible. i will optimize the hell out of it. i made a notion doc tracking every article i’d written. i prepped for a 15-minute coffee chat like it was the ACT. i felt relief when i saw a formula because a formula meant i could win.

if any of this is uncomfortably familiar … hi!!! follow along. i’m actively figuring out how to unlearn it too.

creative careers, meaningful work, creative people, career identity, storytelling, emotionally intelligent ambition, creative ambition, personal growth, becoming by @andrealiriowrites

if you see me in real life, expect a tiny kid-wave!

i’ve been thinking a lot lately about how somewhere between childhood and adulthood we learned to make EVERYTHING mean SOMETHING! every interaction becomes an opportunity, every conversation has an agenda, every introduction is a chance to say the right thing about what we do and where we’re headed….

and tbh I get it but it’s also tiring!

i keep coming back to this image of a kid meeting a stranger and just going “hiiii! i’m andrea.” like that fact alone was enough. literally just: here i am! who are you?

and I just decided i want to be more like that bc i don’t believe you have to graduate out of wonder!

day 40/89 by @andrealiriowrites

anyone else their own worst enemy? it’s funny I was having coffee with a friend and she was telling me how she thought her MBA would make her absolutely lethal in business but instead she just became more scared. it’s SOOO hard to take all the knowledge we acquire and put it into action and actually be like “YEAH I can do it! I AM DOING IT!” bc every time, I swear I go back to this fake framework 107 and think … “well here in this book it says this is a terrible awful impossible idea so obviously DO NOT ATTEMPT!!!” but honestly what would happen if we *did* attempt it anyway??? anyway hoping you feel seen in this! by @andrealiriowrites

posting to remind people about the random positive moments in a day 🫶

also would love book recs!!! hehe by @andrealiriowrites

networking is the worst but also my FAVORITE!! idk what it is … there’s this potential you’ll meet your future best friend and there’s also the potential that you stand in the corner all night with a glass of water thinking dang everyone else here is legit and I’m just but a small me.

the story in this reel is very much true and very much happened. yes, I hid in the bathroom because I was scared to talk to someone. and yes, I did start our conversation saying “I was hiding in the bathroom because I was too scared to talk to you.” and no, I don’t regret it.

we’re all just HUMANNNN. by @andrealiriowrites

somebody mentioned they were tired of their job, just super casually, and they said “that’s how life naturally is, it’s a bummer.” and I thought to myself: “I REJECT NATURE!!! who is with me?!”

but seriously if you are feeling stuck, lmk because I have an endless list of things to read, experiences to try, places to go, and things to think about. better yet, I’ll plan your whole itinerary 😂 by @andrealiriowrites

but would you join if you saw this job post?? by @andrealiriowrites

read once that who you marry is the most important career decision you’ll ever make. SO naturally I turned dating into the greatest-most-optimized system of my life. i mean how else are you supposed to find someone?!?

i went on dates. A LOT of them. and most people were *almost* perfect but they could always be MORE perfect. amiright?!

if you feel like you’ve been optimizing everything in your life for some odd reason, follow along! i’m trying to unlearn it too. by @andrealiriowrites

i legit think i have an achievement illness. give me a hobby and i will turn it into a discipline within 48 hours.

give me a discipline and i will turn it into a system. somewhere in that pipeline, the actual point (enjoying the thing) quietly leaves the building 🫠🫠

i am such a professionally trained hoop jumper. for some reason, “i love this,” always turns into “how good can i get at this, how fast, and is anyone watching?!?!”

and the annoying part is it works. hoop jumpers get REALLY good at things & the problem is you start needing the metric to know if it was worth your time. like enjoying something isn’t allowed to be the whole reason unless it also has a pace, a personal record, a before and after.

so i’m trying something! i’m running, just to run. there shall be NO watch data as the verdict on whether it counted.

pls tell me im not alone in this lol by @andrealiriowrites

something i think about a lot: not everyone’s feedback is created equal!

when you tell someone about a dream, you’re not just getting their opinion. you’re getting THEIR relationship to TRYING. if they’ve never gone for something themselves, “that’s crazy” isn’t information about your idea. it’s information about them.

& the same thing applies whether it’s a marathon, starting a company, or telling your family you’re taking a creative sabbatical to write a book. (ask me how i know lolll.)

so….. the move isn’t to stop telling people things. I love telling people things haha it’s to get specific about who you ask.

find the person who’s already run the marathon and ask them! let’s do it together 🤗 by @andrealiriowrites

literally keep re-watching this because I need to remind myself:

you are …

what you believe
how you show up
who you are when nothing’s being measured
