Recorded ‘Houston Rocket’ on vinyl last night at @autophoto using their original Auto-voice Recording booth! I wanna give this to someone in NY today! Comment who ur Houston Rocket is and it’s yours by @angelnumber8
This moment felt like a pic I forgot to frame. I had spent most of that summer in Houston with my then 1yr old nephew and big sis. My first time being an uncle and it was the most beautiful thing--looking back at it now. Feeding him, hearing him laugh like some kinda old poppay, going on walks till he fell asleep.. My sis was 1 of the only cribs built on the culdesac at that time. It felt like we owned the neighborhood. I never soaked it in as much as how I reminisce on it now, but this song definitely was God documenting for me. I also split a honey butter chicken biscuit, extra honey butter w eric this Summer, chopping it up for hours... NY for a few days, TX for few months, LA for a few weeks.. sofa to air mattress, to the beach I didn't surf and sofa again.. amen. This video is from a few days after I landed in LA that following fall. Leaving payton's crib.. bus to Santa Monica.. connecting to Malibu to link davis. We were making at least 2 songs every link up.. experimenting and also watching him and his brother create what is now VNP. eric and lonner drove up from SD to come cook up as well (as they always did while working on what is now Spray Allen). They introduced me to Davis a year before that. I remember the first night they scooped me and drove to his crib I couldn't believe it. Not cause the crib was dummy..it was/is..but the whole time i thought they had been talking about a older dude.. davis was like 14 or sumn at that time. Some disney channel shit.. Anyways lol.. we all went to Shangri-La that day w Davis to mix one of his songs. Sun setting.. just kicking it in the studio, soaking in everything and shit, subconsciously crawling with something to say. I was just on a couch a few hrs ago. Boots in the grass and on the deck and every other moment wanting a smoke, Eric joined me with this random riff and we just freestyled Houston Rocket. I had Davis record this vid so I wouldn't forget the lyrics. Every line in this song is about that year filled with real simple love. by @angelnumber8
