Getting to know countries, one banknote at a time.

Here are some of my favorite places and the little pieces of art they carry in their pockets.

Which country’s banknotes are your favorite?👀

I recently visited Indonesia for the first time and spent almost two months in Canggu, where most of my time was spent documenting surfers.

But what really stayed with me was getting outside the tourist towns and experiencing a little more of everyday local life.

I loved slowing down, exploring and observing the little things. Families and friends gathering, singing along to a guitar while preparing a BBQ, sharing meals and simply enjoying each other’s company.

There was something beautiful about the way people made time for one another and found joy in the simplest moments.

It made me reflect on how easily we get caught up in our own routines and how much we can learn from slowing down, reconnecting with each other and appreciating the world around us.

I can’t wait to return, explore more remote islands and connect with the locals.

A special thank you to @fikrisurfnew @jojo_tarihoran @muhammad_syai_fudin @surya_raka8045 @_arif.ptr9 for welcoming me into your little family and letting me experience your everyday life firsthand, making me feel like an old friend rather than someone who had just arrived.❤️🫶🏻 by @annaa_travelss

Meet the Central American Agouti

If you’ve never seen one before, you’re not alone! These unusual looking mammals are large rodents native to the forests of Central and South America.

They’re mostly active during the day and feed primarily on fruits, nuts and seeds.

What makes them important is they are seed dispersers, helping regenerate tropical forests and maintain healthy ecosystems. They’re also an important food source for predators such as jaguars and large birds.

Sometimes, the smallest looking roles in an ecosystem make the biggest difference.

Have you ever heard of an Agouti before?

Unfortunately, social media doesn’t seem to work that way anymore.

Instagram and other platforms have conditioned us to believe that we need to post constantly to stay relevant. More reels. More photos. More content. Even when it means sacrificing the quality of our work just to keep up.

Quality adds value. Quantity adds numbers.

Somewhere along the way, we started measuring the value of our art by its reach rather than the thought, time, and creativity behind it.

Going viral seems to have become the goal. Not necessarily creating something meaningful, but creating something the algorithm will push to millions of people.

And now, with AI becoming increasingly integrated into the creative industry, we’re being encouraged to use artificial intelligence to create even more content, even faster.

The internet is becoming flooded with content, and it’s getting harder to distinguish what’s real, what’s original, and what’s been created simply to grab our attention.

But I keep coming back to one thought: Was going viral ever really the point of creating art?

I thought it was about capturing something beautiful. Telling a story. Showing people a perspective they might never experience themselves. Creating something that makes someone stop scrolling and actually feel something.

As a photographer, I’d rather spend hours creating one photograph I’m genuinely proud of than post ten just because I feel like I have to.

Maybe we need to stop chasing the algorithm and start appreciating the art again.

Idk, these have just been my thoughts lately, but I’m curious, what do you think?

Share this with someone who needs this reminder today.

A reminder that wildlife doesn’t need to be exotic or endangered to deserve our appreciation. Sometimes, we just need to slow down and look a little closer.

Peacocks have incredible feathers that aren’t just for show. Males use their colorful trains and distinctive eyespots to attract females during courtship displays.

The more we learn about the wildlife around us, the more we realize how much there is to appreciate and protect.

This carousel was inspired by @im.loreviews who got me playing with the idea of combining completely different perspectives into one composition.

I experimented with matching colors, textures, compositions, shapes, and details across different images.

I’m really curious which one is your favorite? 👀

One of my favorite things about New Zealand is its unique birdlife and how much the locals care about protecting it.

The Tūī has such beautiful feathers and the funniest little white tufts. They’re incredible mimics, and their songs can sound like a mix of whistles, clicks, and even mechanical noises.

Swipe through to get a closer look at one of New Zealand’s most fascinating native birds.

The ocean always has a way of reminding us that we’re just visitors.

Sailing through Moorea’s turquoise lagoons, we came across a Reef Shark.
