Happy Halloween. Sadly my kids are too old now, but we certainly had lots of fun dressing up over the last 12 years. Will miss your parties @gypsyandmedesigns by @annakolusniewski

I am working on this costume for the ‘Outfit Out Loud’ up-cycled clothing workshops and exhibition. Made from almost 100% recycled materials including a hi-vis vest, safety barrier mesh, recycled fabric and trims, bird netting, bridal veils, plastic rings, cable ties and medical cord. The good news is it’s not too late to participate in this amazing program, for only $25 waged and $20 concession. Details below, it’s also open to allies and supporters of the LGBTQI+ community. Outfit Out Loud, a vibrant community project celebrating LGBTQIA+ identity, creativity, and self-expression through upcycled fashion.

Led by Aa is for Art, this hands-on workshop series invites you to transform pre-loved clothing into bold, personal wearable artworks. You’ll learn techniques such as stitching, painting, airbrushing, and imaginative alterations, no prior experience is necessary, and all materials are provided.

Participants will also have the opportunity to showcase their finished garments in a four-week exhibition at the Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre in January and February which will be part of Midsumma.

Workshop Details:

The program will run at two venues for two separate participant groups – Woods Street Arts Space in Laverton and Louis Joel Arts & Community in Altona – creating welcoming local spaces for connection, experimentation and creative expression. These photos popped up this morning from a Truce Films Halloween party I attended with @tashtonk23 4 years ago, there is not enough dressing up in this world. #halloween #trucefilms #costume #dayofthedead by @annakolusniewski

So good catching up with my gorgeous friend Theresia @tjs1515 in Adelaide last night. We have been friends for 50 years and met at a roller skating rink when we were kids. She gave me this lovely photo of us from 20 years ago and I also had the pleasure of sharing a bed with her fur babies, it was a bit cramped. #oldfriends #furbaby by @annakolusniewski

✨ MAKE IT. WEAR IT. EXHIBIT IT. ✨

Want to see something YOU created hanging in an exhibition?

OUTFIT OUT LOUD is more than an upcycled fashion workshop — it’s your chance to transform pre-loved clothing into an original wearable artwork and have your finished piece featured in a four-week public exhibition at Louis Joel Arts & Community Centre in January/February 2027. 🎨👕✨

Across the program, you’ll experiment with techniques such as:

✂️ Upcycling & clothing customisation
🎨 Fabric painting & stencilling
🧵 Patches, embellishment & hand sewing
🖨️ Printing and image transfer
✨ Creative styling and wearable art

No experience needed. You don’t need to be an artist or know how to sew — just bring your ideas.

Clothing is supplied, thanks to Green Collect, so you can experiment, create and turn something pre-loved into something completely your own.

🌈 OUTFIT OUT LOUD celebrates creativity, individuality and self-expression, with the program connecting to Midsumma Festival and creating a welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ participants and allies.

A friend sent this photo of me recently wearing one of my chokers from an exhibition opening 15 years ago featuring my jewellery and body pieces at beautiful @nationaltrustvic building Tasma Terrace in East Melbourne. Time flies by so fast, I do miss being a full time designer. #costumejewellery #choker #exhibition #jewellerydesigner by @annakolusniewski
