COLUMBIA, SC. The “Best of BC” continues to celebrate legendary excellence! We are honored to highlight Antwonette Pendergrass, who has officially been inducted as the 84th Miss Benedict College for the 2026–2027 academic year. Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Antwonette is a dedicated Social Work major whose journey is a masterclass in service, grace, and steady leadership.

A ROYAL LEGACY. Antwonette’s rise to the highest royal title on campus is the culmination of a consistent and impactful journey through the Benedict College Royal Court:
• Miss Benedict College Elect (2026–2027)
• Miss Junior (2025–2026):
• Miss Sophomore (2024–2025)

SERVICE & SISTERHOOD. Her commitment to uplift and social action reaches new heights this season. Antwonette is a proud Spring ’26 initiate of the Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, joining a legacy of scholarship and public service.

THE ROAD AHEAD. As a Social Work major, Antwonette brings a heart for advocacy and community well-being to her reign. Her journey from Buffalo to the “hollowed grounds” of Benedict College serves as an inspiration to her peers, proving that with perseverance and purpose, the crown is just the beginning of the impact you can leave behind.

NASAP SLI ‘26… what can i even begin to say.

This is an experience that was deeply personal to me and has been so important in my development as a student leader and as a young woman trying to navigate the adult world. I’ve learned so much and met so many amazing beautiful people. To have the opportunity to grow myself in such a way was something i took very seriously and executed with everything in me. Being nominated for Best Female Networker has been the biggest motivation for me to continue to pursue every connection and opportunity possible.

Thank you to Benedict College Student Activities Office for providing me with such an outstanding opportunity. Thank you to the amazing student leaders and advisor that accompanied me on this trip aswell as the lovely Tigers that supported me from afar. Thank you to every single person that i met and that welcomed me during this experience as it being my first and only year attending. Thank you to my beautiful sister queens that have shown me what true grace looks like. And a very special thank you to my king, Phumosny, for being my backbone through everything and motivating me to be my best self.
