As turtle season winds down, I’m reminded how lucky I am to witness Florida’s wild beauty daily🙌🏼😍
In a world full of chaos, these threatened spaces are my solace, helping to restore my quality of life, easing health challenges, & giving me a renewed sense of strength.
I’m deeply grateful to the biologists, professors, community of science nerds I’ve been fortunate to call friends, plus the dedicated team at Rookery Bay NERR who share their knowledge freely & work tirelessly to protect this fragile ecosystem.
A kayak tour w/ @risingtidefl through the heart of Rookery Bay changed our path over eight years ago, persuading us to put down roots here🏡
It’s not always easy to be far from family, missing simple moments & speacial days. So in honor of my nephew’s birthdays this year I wanted to share with them how they can help effect change.
We typically see loggerheads, so I was thrilled a green sea turtle nest was up for adoption! Placing the tag around Brandon’s bday, then seeing my first green hatchlings on Ryan’s—and by chance, I was also volunteering the day their nest was excavated, my final outing of the season. A full-circle moment I’ll never forget—feels like I hit the jackpot! 🎰✨💚🥹
With funding cuts, environmental programs & vital jobs under constant threat, all I can do is my small part—volunteering, learning, growing, donating. Hoping future generations, like my nephews, still get a chance to witness the magic of these ecosystems.
It’s been a tough year (really several) for many and the environment. We are not separate from nature. We all have a role to play. Use your time, voice, & resources to give back whenever you can. I promise it gives SO much in return.
Respect wildlife🐾Don’t disturb turtle nests🐢Fill in beach holes🕳️🪏Leave no trace—or better yet leave it better than you found it🧹Pick up trash🚯Don’t release balloons🚫🎈
Protect what little wild we have left—like your life depends on it—because it does!
And when you need a break from it all, watch these tiny hatchlings emerge, making their way into the blue🌊🙏🏼Keep swimming, y’all!💚

🌿 Stepping into the swamp with the rarest of individuals is a gift beyond words. ✨🍁
To witness their generosity and feel the pure joy and inspiration they bring to everyone they encounter—it’s nothing short of awe-inspiring. Every moment spent in their presence reminds me how lucky we are to share this space with such beautiful souls. 🙌🏼🙏🏼
Feeling extra grateful for yesterday’s meander through Fakahatchee Strand, filled with laughter, friends, stories, and the untouched beauty of the swamp. 💚
These are the true legends—showing us the power of nature, connection, and exploration.
Thank you, Mike, Donna, Win, Mike, and the many others who joined and shared their passionate love for these precious ecosystems! Feeling fortunate to be able to explore with this group of biologists that I continuously learn from.🙌🏼🚣🏻‍♀️
It was a tour with @risingtidefl almost 6 years ago that had us hooked. We decided to plant some roots here and took a deep dive into giving back to these unique estuaries and habitats that restored my health. 🌊🙏🏼 And I still don’t know where any of this will lead, but if I’ve learned anything from these experiences, change is inevitable. Take steps to better yourself, this world, and those around you. Be open, and do more of what fills you up. 💙
