As we say goodbye to October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we have a call to action to make. 🕊️ CW: domestic violence, strangulation.

In OIA’s report “The Worst of the Worst,” roughly 90% of the crimes committed by the ICE and Border Patrol agents we documented were gender-based and sexual violence: sexual abuse, CSA, and domestic violence. Many of these agents abused their own partners and children, often for years, while keeping their jobs.

Samuel Saxon, a former ICE supervisor in Cincinnati, had a long history of abusing his partner, including strangulation and broken bones. The day he was arrested, he nearly killed her. A neighbor saved her life.

Strangulation shows up again and again in these files. Women strangled by a partner face over 7 times the odds of later being killed by that partner. Experts estimate tens of thousands of domestic violence cases by police officers every year, and few agencies even measure it.

WE CALL for domestic violence incidents by law enforcement to be tracked! Call your representative in Congress at (202) 224-3121 and share this post or the report to bring attention to this issue.

You can read the full report through the QR code or the link in bio.

If you or someone you know needs support, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is available at 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788. Resources for Central Ohio are also available thru @_odvn and @bravoavp 💙

Unity is power. We cannot let hate win. We were all Arlintonians today - speaking truth to power in front of #RussellVought. Enough with your violent budget. We are united as neighbors, federal workers, teachers, neighbors and children. #iceout #KeepingVigilCollective #arlingtonva #alcovaheightsVigil by @anufh.va

🚨 Why is Spanberger negotiating with NextEra?

The Lt. Governor, the Attorney General and the SCC’s own staff all said no to NextEra’s $67 billion takeover of Dominion. Instead, she’s laying out conditions under which regulators should approve it. Swipe to see the problem. 👉

Instead of opposing NextEra’s $67 billion takeover of Dominion outright, she’s laying out conditions under which regulators could approve it. Swipe to see the problem. 👉

⚡ A boon for the data center industry. The deal could mean more power plants, long-term deals with Big Tech and access to taxpayer-backed federal financing.

⚡ Her six-year rate freeze covers less than half your bill. Fuel costs and other charges can still go up.

⚡ Her conditions don’t limit new gas plants.

⚡ The proposed max penalty for breaking certain promises is $10K a day. Pocket change for NextEra.

Gov. Spanberger herself called this NextEra’s fifth attempt at a takeover like this. The first four failed. Virginia can make it fail again.

A bad deal is a bad deal is a bad deal!

Tell Gov. Spanberger to oppose the takeover outright.

This report by the @ohioimmigrantalliance analyzes 152 documented cases of ICE and Border Patrol agents charged with or convicted of crimes. Most are against women and children, and many while in uniform. The full report (link in our bio) makes every agent, details their crimes, provides resources and discussing the vetting deficiencies, training cuts, and accountability gaps that allowed these men to remain in positions of power. "These are not simply individuals who happened to work for DHS — many of them used their positions of power to commit, conceal, or contribute to their crimes,” the report states. In 69 of 152 cases (45.4%), the offense was directly connected to the agent’s official duties.

This report and other many incidents of brutal violence and abuse of power towards our neighbors and their families is why we ask Congress to #ABOLISHICE #StephenMiller #IceAreTheCriminals #IceThugs by @anufh.va
