Small moments of shelter and beauty take on new meaning in Lucia Sidonio’s intimate oil paintings. In Angle of an Entrance, the Ōtautahi Christchurch-based artist explores the tension between comfort and confinement, and the desire for freedom and escape. Drawing on photographs taken during a year in France, Sidonio captures everyday scenes, from people sheltering beneath umbrellas on rainy Paris streets to moths circling a light, finding unexpected details in the familiar. Household objects, fleeting memories and the unpredictable nature of making come together in Freeway, an exhibition by Christian Dimick and Joshua Taylor at Grace, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Working across painting and ceramics, Dimick and Taylor approach their materials in different ways, but share an interest in ambiguity, domesticity and the stories objects can hold. We spoke with the artists about working through instinct, knowing when a work is finished and the connections they find in each other’s practices. Read the full conversation through the link in bio. Artist, mother, gallery director: Ruth Buchanan’s life spans a range of roles and responsibilities, each bringing its own demands and perspectives. In Housekeeping, her second solo exhibition at Coastal Signs, Buchanan brings these overlapping worlds together through drawing, installation and other forms of work. We spoke to Ruth about the intersections of art, work and family, and how the personal can become a way of thinking about the political. Read the full conversation through the link in bio. Ben Pearce’s metal sculptures seem to shift between the industrial and the organic, taking on a life of their own. In Obelisk, Pearce continues his exploration of rock-like forms, combining faceted planes of Corten steel and bronze to create sculptures that change with the viewer’s perspective. As light moves across their surfaces, the works reveal new angles and unexpected character, inviting an instinctive connection with objects that feel as though they belong to the landscape. Robert Heald, Wellington is participating in Post Fair Paris 2026 with a solo presentation by Susan Te Kahurangi King, open now until 24 October. The booth features 13 drawings dating from the 1960s and 1970s executed in a range of mediums including oil pastel, crayon, ink, coloured pencil, and graphite. The works evidence King’s skill as a colourist and the evolution of her exceptional draughtsmanship, as the broader figuration of the 1960s leads into the more fragmented and intricate compositions of the 1970s. Susan Te Kahurangi King is a self-taught artist born in Te Aroha, New Zealand, in 1951.
