⭐️STUDENT SPOTLIGHT⭐️ Drawing I foundations - Project 2 Line @art_kutztown by @art_kutztown
Are you having a senior exhibition this year? -- @Art_Kutztown wants to showcase all of our students and what better way then when they're exhibiting the culmination of their time at Kutztown with their senior exhibition? -- Seniors: We have many options, we can do a recap of your show, we can show the installation process or the work leading up to the show. We can do collaborative posts or you can send images. We could do an interview. Let's coordinate! -- Aim for nice quality imagery and, if we do a collaborative post, a caption that makes sense on both our threads. -- This image is from the senior exhibition of Jess Rossi, who graduated last sprint. Jess is now an artist in residence at the Morean Center for Clay in St. Petersburg, Florida! The third image is a screenshot from the Morean's website featuring the same gorgeous vase in order to publicize their Artist in Residence Welcome Show "Salt," on view from October 10 - November 7. -- Our students go on to do amazing things, don't they? Help us document this achievement on your road to greatness! by @art_kutztown
Spotted this painting on the 1st floor hallways between painting and textiles. 💋 -- This piece, created by McKenna Ianetti, is from her first painting studio. She writes, "This painting is of my girlfriend and me, and it is titled 'Bliss.' It is an oil painting on canvas that's 24x30 in. I made this painting to capture the bliss you feel after being affectionate with your partner. It is part of a larger exploration of mine, trying to de-fetishize lesbian relationships and intimacy. It is the first of many in this exploration, as I plan to work on it throughout the semester, and possibly longer. This is a really special piece to me because it's a vulnerable scene and state to be seen in, and I hope people appreciate its beauty." -- McKenna is a dual major in studio art and art education and plans to concentrate in painting and ceramics. by @art_kutztown
Obsession! Ours and his. 🐠 -- Throw-back Thursday! Zach Taylor made a lot of artwork about fish during his time at KU. Much of his aquatic themed work was in ceramics, his area of specialization, but it also showed up in other studios. -- This stool was made to accompany a cabinet for his fishing rods, all produced in Sophie Glenn's Sculpture Studio course last spring, the semester Zach graduated, Spring 2026. Even though this was an accompanying item for the larger piece, it sorta stole the show. -- At the end of the year, Sharadin Art Building is overflowing with high caliber artwork, so we have tons of content to show off this year, even if it is projects from the past. Nonetheless, we got lots of new stuff to show you, too. Stay tuned! by @art_kutztown
SCAVENGER HUNT! -- We are gonna start a new series here of things spotted in the Sharadin Art Building, and you need to tell us where it is and any stories you have about this item. -- This lil cutie was spotted a week ago, but it's probably been there way longer. Where is it? Let us know! -- Do you have an idea for our scavenger hunt series? Send us a pic. Try to make sure it is both clear what you're showing us, but close enough we don't know where it truly is (no room numbers, etc). by @art_kutztown
The open call is back for the gym locker gallery! This is a chance to exhibit your work in a 12x12x60 space in the ground floor of Sharadin. All majors, art forms, and subject matter are welcome. Don’t be afraid to embrace the weird! Fill out the form via the link in our bio for a chance to showcase your work! by @art_kutztown

⭐️STUDENT SPOTLIGHT⭐️ Drawing I foundations first critique @art_kutztown In this class, students sharpen their observational drawings skills. This project in particular consists of 5 value drawings of a still life. Focusing on how to use lights and darks to create the illusion of three-dimensional depth, form, and volume on a flat surface. Practicing building smooth or deliberate transitions using a value scale so the drawing has a full range of tones from white to black and everything in between. Students learn how to identify and render key lighting components like highlights, mid-tones, core shadows, reflected light, and cast shadows. Another skill is grouping complex visual details into connected families of light and shadow rather than getting lost in tiny, scattered marks. by @art_kutztown
Looking back at Intro to Printmaking. -- Etching as a full-body process: inking, wiping, soaking, printing. Everyone moving across the studio in rhythm. -- A space activated by process. -- One of the best things about art school isn't just the facilities nor is it the community, but rather it's the two when they combine. It's watching your community and what they do in the facilities. Making work with other talented, invested artsy kids gets the juices flowing. -- The building misses you. by @art_kutztown
You walk by… then double back. Happens a lot in Sharadin Art Building! -- Lamps, glass, and colorful ceramics from Drawing II, building up through colored oil pastel and seeing how colors illuminate and reflect onto each other. -- Plenty to take in on these walls. From the Foundation's hallway where we saw these drawings from John Gurney's class down to sculpture, over to painting, printmaking, textiles, and photo, there is always a lot of inspiration to take in from our students. by @art_kutztown
It's been a wild semester and the last couple weeks of school are always quite the crunch period. -- What better way to soften the deal than a sweet and chewy candy salad? -- Professor Friedman often invites her students to do a candy salad either for the final critique or class clean up and this one was epic! Someone might need a bigger bowl! 🥣 -- Final critiques and exam make us sleepy! Bring on the sugar! Oh no! Here comes the sugar crash!!! 🍬 💥 🍭 💥 by @art_kutztown
