POSTS STORIES REELS

Six new originals from Mel. All sky.

The more time she spends painting, the more she notices things she used to walk past. Lately it’s clouds. Storm light, quiet ones, the kind that stop you mid-walk.

Head in the Clouds drops July 24 for newsletter subscribers (check your inbox for the password) and opens to everyone July 25.

If the series sells out, net proceeds will cover Beckett’s August therapy intensive in full (!). It’s a lofty goal, but our heads are in the clouds dreaming about it.

Yes, I dress up as a bee and hide tiny paintings around Calgary. No, I’m not having a midlife crisis.

Every #LittleBeeArtDrop is about spreading joy and sharing our story. When someone finds one of these little 4x4 inch paintings, they discover Little Bee Gallery. They learn about Beckett. And maybe they become part of our mission to fund therapy through art.

Art should make people happy. Supporting kids with CP should make the world better. So I’ll keep doing this ridiculous, wonderful thing.

Found one? Tag us and use #LittleBeeArtDrop so we can celebrate with you. And don’t forget to follow @littlebeefoundation

Time for some intros!

This is Mel, one of the co-founders and artists of Little Bee Gallery. When she’s not moonlighting as a lawyer, you’ll find her in her studio working on new creations 🎨, working on the gallery 🐝, hanging out with her husband and two dogs 🐾, and enjoying time with family and friends.

She is “aunty mommy” to Little Bee, who is the apple of her eye. 😍

It’s Halloween!

Auntie mommy and Beckett’s mom are dressed up as Beckett’s favourite celebrity: Ms Rachel (identical twin edition). His mom crafted his “what’s in the box?” costume to fit over his wheelchair and gait trainer (walker).

They shared a few tips on how to make Halloween more inclusive for kiddos like our Little Bee:
1. Have treats that aren’t candy available. Some kids can’t eat orally or have dietary restrictions, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give them some other kind of treat!
2. Consider if everyone can get to your door. Beckett can’t go up stairs in his wheelchair or walker. Setting up a table at the bottom of any steps, or a wireless doorbell means kids like Beckett get included too.
3. Be thoughtful with your decorations. Flashing lights can be dangerous and some super scary decorations can be overwhelming.

We’ll be back next week with posts about available artwork that supports the costs of Beckett’s specialized care and equipment. Keep your eyes peeled for a new original painting by Suzanne dropping this week 👀

A small original painting is hidden just west of Calgary, in a community whose name is another word for peace and agreement.

Clue: the only spot with shelter from the snow near the adventure park!

First to find it keeps it. It is free.

Tag @littlebeefoundation and use #LittleBeeArtDrop so we can see where it lands.

Perhaps the best reason to lift ever? Getting these laughs. And also knowing I can help transfer him safely as he grows.

World CP Day is today.

We thought today was a good time to say hello if you’re new. This is what we do, and why. by @artbymelm

My “and also” thoughts on the great @jannardenpod episode with @janis.irwin and @jannarden

I thought it was an excellent episode and discussion, and a good listen for all Albertans as we approach referendy. Have you listened to it? What did you think?
