Thanks to @sarahkirkhanley for a wonderful presentation at the Center for contemporary printmaking in Norwalk CT. to celebrate the on line catalog raisonne of the graphic work of my friend Robert Kipniss. Amy and I are here in the front row with Robert and Laurie. It was such a treat for me to see Robert and catch up a little in person. He is the single most important influence on my career as a painter. Always so generous with me not only in sharing knowledge about painting but also the business of art. He's 95 now, and we still discuss painting on the phone regularly. We also share jokes. Robert Kipniss is a rare person and a great friend. I feel fortunate that our paths crossed over 40 years ago. by @artbynickpatten

A few favorites from a recent visit to the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester. Avery, Gotlieb, and Rothko; By the Sea. What a beautiful exhibit showing the work of these 3 giants of American art. Their focus during summers they spent there was work on paper and this show includes scores of watercolor, guoache and drawings. But I was swept away by the room with these large canvases. The exhibit is there until September 27th. by @artbynickpatten
