Artemin Gallery presents “That’ll Hold,” a solo exhibition by Spanish artist Jan Vallverdú , his first in Asia. Opening Reception｜Oct 17 (Sat), 15:00 Artist Talk｜Oct 17 (Sat), 16:00–17:00 Speaker: curator and writer Elanor Wang, in conversation with Jan Vallverdú, who will be present in person to talk through his practice with the audience. RSVP for the Artist Talk: link in bio “That’ll Hold” turns the body into a site of negotiation — stability against imbalance, control against its loss, presence against disappearance. Vallverdú’s figures resist fixed form: caught mid-manoeuvre, they hold a momentary equilibrium between the figurative and the abstract, like a diagram still taking shape. Jan Vallverdú (b. 1995, Barcelona) began drawing at an early age, moving into muralism and large-scale painting before turning to the studio. He works in oil for its slow drying time and capacity for repeated intervention, building and reworking surfaces through layers, scraping, and adjustment — each decision left partially visible beneath the next. We warmly invite you to join us. - Jan Vallverdú: That’ll Hold Dates: 2026 Oct 17 ⭢ Nov 21 Venue: Artemin Gallery（111 台北市士林區基河路251巷32號1樓） by @artemin.gallery

A new solo show by Tan Mu is coming to Artemin next January! Tan Mu (b. 1991, Shandong, China) lives and works in Shanghai. She grew up on the coast, where the sea shaped a lasting attention to what moves beneath the surface: seabed maps, signal routes, the unseen systems that structure our world. Freediving has since deepened that attention, as a single breath alters how pressure, orientation and time are felt. Trained in painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and in expanded media at Alfred University in New York, she brings together the material restraint of painting and the logic of signals and systems. In her paintings, submarine cables become emotional and neural maps, and ice becomes a record of planetary time. Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Peres Projects in Berlin and Milan and BEK Forum in Vienna, and is held in collections including The Dubai Collection and the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection. More details coming soon. @tan.mu__ by @artemin.gallery

In Jan Vallverdú’s paintings, the figures do not necessarily represent anything concrete or physical. He thinks of them more as voices, attitudes, or forms of human and social behaviour. Sometimes they can be our other selves or our darker parts; at other times, they feel like somebody else’s voice. This is why Vallverdú keeps them within an ambiguous boundary: they retain something human, yet they can never be completely identified. Detail and installation photos of Going Anyway, 2026 Oil on canvas 160 x 160 cm @jan.vallverdu - Jan Vallverdú: That’ll Hold Dates: 2026 Oct 17 ⭢ Nov 21 Venue: Artemin Gallery（111 台北市士林區基河路251巷32號1樓） by @artemin.gallery

Artemin Gallery @artemin.gallery is delighted to present That’ll Hold, the Taiwan debut solo exhibition of Barcelona based artist Jan Vallverdú @jan.vallverdu. Thought tends to privilege finished forms while forgetting their genesis. We coexist with events, objects, bodies, and other organizations. Yet these outcomes may be nothing more than momentary actualizations: always provisional resolutions of a far more complex subterranean field, composed of intensive dynamics and multiple processes still open to different outcomes. We see the crystal once it has crystallized, forgetting the physicochemical conditions that made its formation possible. We see the mature organism and forget the embryological dynamics that produced it. We see the reified institution and forget the historical tensions that gave rise to it. We see subjective identity and forget the series of affects, habits, memories, and experiences from which it is composed.
